- Attempting suicide, sultry but down-on-her-luck swindler Liz is rescued by lonely tow truck driver Aiden. But instead of rushing her to the hospital, Liz's savior abducts her to his remote farmhouse, convinced that she is the wife who abandoned him years earlier. Cut off from civilization, kept prisoner and guarded day and night by vicious attack dogs, Liz realizes she must rely on her skills as a con artist to talk her way out of this hostage situation. In the satiric tradition of Buffalo '66, Misery, Black Snake Moan, and Secretary, comes this captivating black comedy about the ties that bind.—Dokument Films
- A girl (Nadia Townsend) walks into a grocery store and tries to return some canned dog food, but the clerk will not give a refund unless there is something wrong with it. The girl bangs the cans on the counter to damage them. A bearded man (Bernard Curry) nearby watches her.
In a deserted city area, she removes papers covered in wet blood from her car and drops them on the ground.
The man from the grocery store is sitting in his tow truck, opening his mouth wide and taking pictures of it using a polaroid camera.
In her car, the girl turns it on, and a hose begins to pour smoke inside. As she lays her head back, the scene dissolves.
In an apartment, the girl (Liz) has been sleeping on the couch and reneging on her promise to her sister Jackie (Sally Bull) to help with the baby. Later, Liz steals a necklace from her sister's jewelry box.
Liz leaves the house and accidentally runs over the family dog. She rushes him to the vet, who requires hundreds of dollars to treat him. At a pawn shop, the stolen necklace won't bring enough cash. The pawnbroker suggestively offers her more if she makes a "deal", but she refuses his sexual advances in disgust. When his back is turned, she leans across the counter and swipes a watch from the case. She pawns it and gets enough cash. Returning to the vet, she learns the dog has died.
At home that night, Jackie is furious about the missing necklace. She finds the cash in Liz's purse, and attacks her. When Liz tells them about the dog, Jackie is horrified as it was the only thing that had touched the autistic Mikey (Zac Richmond), who died under Liz's care. Jackie is fed up and charges her husband Dan (Peter Barron) to throw Liz out.
On the building roof, Liz remembers Mikey walking on the railing and falling. Dan comes to the roof and explains that Liz must go. He rejects the affair that they had.
As Liz's car fills with smoke, the bearded man drives up and pulls her unconscious body from the car.
She wakes the next day in the home of the bearded man, Aiden. She soon learns that Aiden is not right in the head, and that he intends to keep her.
