Kevin Bacon has been plugging away in movies since making his big-screen debut in 1978's highly problematic comedy classic "National Lampoon's Animal House," and has been in so many different kinds of films over the last 47 years that there's a trivia game, Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, that essentially holds him as the center of the cinema universe. While you can't make as many movies as Bacon has without appearing in more than a few stinkers, I don't think I've ever seen the man give a poor performance. He's been believable as heroes, villains, creeps and milquetoasts, and, despite getting cast in numerous Oscar contenders, has never competed for an Academy Award himself. That's gotta change.
The only bad thing I can say about his most recent project, "The Bondsman," is that it won't get him off the Oscar schneid. That's because it's a streaming horror series for Amazon Prime...

Many Hearthstone expansions are exciting in their early days, but Festival of Legends feels special. Its theme is fantastic, its artwork is exceptional, and it is introducing a ton of new cards that will become the centerpieces of exciting new decks.
We’re obviously focusing on those decks today. While the Hearthstone meta is always changing, recent theorycrafting events, data, and old-fashioned experience suggest that these will be some of the best decks in the early days of the Festival of Legends expansion.
Hearthstone: Best Festival of Legends Death Knight Decks Climatic Necrotic Explosion Rainbow Dk
This “Rainbow” Death Knight uses Frost, Blood, and Undead cards to trigger the effect of the new Legendary spell: Climactic Necrotic Explosion. While that card is incredibly expensive and tricky to properly trigger, its effect is powerful enough to justify running what was already a pretty solid decklist for Dk fans. Activision Blizzard is currently under investigation following accusations of harassment, discrimination, and fostering a hostile work environment. You can read more about the investigation here.
Hearthstone‘s new Murder at Castle Nathria expansion is certainly thematically exciting (who doesn’t love a good murder mystery?), but there are serious questions about how the expansion will impact the game’s competitive meta. There are already some who fear that many of the expansion’s new cards will prove to be just a bit too gimmicky.
However, after spending a little time with the expansion’s new cards during a recent preview event, I feel confident suggesting that Castle Nathria is going to surprise a lot of Hearthstone fans. While some of the expansion’s new cards may not look that great on paper, they actually prove to be incredibly effective in practice. Of course, getting the most out of those cards...

Wow, I did not expect that ending.
On Ash vs Evil Dead Season 2 Episode 3, Ash met up with his old buddy Chet to create a plan to lure back the thieves who stole the Delta, and it was a yet another fun 30 minutes of television.
This was a much more laid back episode than Ash vs Evil Dead Season 2 Episode 2. The use of archival footage from the Evil Dead film trilogy was put to brilliant use again with the opening montage. At least Ash had a photo of the Oldsmobile to remember it by. Those two have been through a lot together haven't they?
Pablo: Look at him. Man, that care has been with him through thick and thin, war and peace. I mean look at him.
Kelly: I mean, it didn't even have a CD player.
Pablo: True that.

World Of Warcraft‘s sixth expansion – Legion – will release August 30, developer Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed. Announcing the release date on the hugely-popular Mmo’s official website, the blurb says players will face “a great and ancient enemy” that has “set its sights on Azeroth once more.”
Defenders of the Alliance and the Horde—a great and ancient enemy has set its sights on Azeroth once more, and soon the land will be consumed in a storm of fel fire. Starting on August 30, kingdoms will burn, heroes will fall, and the world will stand on the precipice of destruction with the launch of World of Warcraft: Legion!
Blizzard has previously teased some of the new features that fans will have access to in Legion, including a new Demon Hunter class – which you can access early if you pre-order – and an entirely new area to explore called the The Broken Isles.

Watch the new World of Warcraft Legion trailer from Blizzcon 2015! There are airships and demons in this cinematic trailer!
Blizzcon 2015 really knows how to build the hype. So far they've given us the Warcraft trailer, the Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void trailer, and now one for their flagship game, World of Warcraft!
This trailer is meant for their new expansion, coming out in Summer 2016, Legion.
The Tomb of Sargeras has been reopened, and the demons of the Burning Legion pour into our world. Their full, terrifying might is fixed on summoning the Dark Titan to Azeroth—and they’ve already located the key to his return.
With the Alliance and Horde devastated, only you can take up Warcraft’s most legendary artifacts, scour the ancient Broken Isles for relics of the Titans, and challenge the Legion before Azeroth’s last hope dies.
Steel yourself, champion. Extinction is imminent.

By this stage in the game, Activision Blizzard are the experts in the field of cinematic trailers, and the company’s latest sizzle reel for World of Warcraft‘s Legion expansion pack only drives that point home.
Boasting the cinematic style and grandeur that is emblematic of WoW’s scale and scope, this intro cutscene introduces fans both old and new to the lush world of the Mmorpg, all the while teasing some of the new features and classes that we can expect come summer 2016. That’s when the expansion is on course to release, though Blizzard didn’t specify an exact date at this time.
BlizzCon 2015 has proved to be quite the event for the Warcraft brand, no thanks to the debutant trailer for Duncan Jones’ CG-laden blockbuster. You can check out said sizzle reel here, while the contents of Legion can be viewed below.

Taking to the stage during the Gamescom event in Cologne, Germany, Blizzard addressed its, ahem, legions of World of Warcraft fans, who were all expecting one announcement in particular: the sixth and latest expansion for the genre-defining Mmo. And the mega-publisher didn’t disappoint.
Building off last year’s Warlords of Draenor is the sixth and latest add-on, Legion, which will introduce budding adventurers to the realm of The Broken Isles. With a boosted level cap and a reworked player-vs-player combat system, this is the expansion WoW fans have long been demanding, and Blizzard will be hoping that World of Warcraft: Legion can at the very least curb the Mmo’s dwindling subscription count.
No word of a release date as of yet, though Blizzard will host a beta test for the expansion later this year, indicating that the full release will occur at some point in early 2016.

Even if something fails to become popular in a mainstream sense, there’s still a chance that it will develop a following. The term for this is, of course, a cult following, and that’s exactly what Piranha Bytes’ Risen franchise caters to. Despite never being a hit with the masses, and existing as a hardcore gamer’s RPG, the franchise has just seen the release of its third entry, Risen 3: Titan Lords.
Last time around, the Deep Silver-published entity let us live a pirate’s life as a nameless hero. Time passed, then news pertaining to its follow-up came out, and it was promised that the developers would return to the series’ roots with it. There was talk about a medieval setting (which sounded great to me), but it seems as if something got lost in translation between German and English, because the final product is certainly not a medieval experience.

If you own the PS4 or Xbox One and have been wondering when you'll get to play Diablo 3 and it's Reaper of Souls expansion on their brand new machines. Seems like DC Comics properties are being snapped up quick sharp this week! Following the announcement that Fox has picked up Gotham for a full season, and The Flash and iZombie have received identical treatment from The CW, NBC has commissioned a full season of DC’s much-loved Constantine.
Based on the Hellblazer series, the show will revolve around its titular hero, John Constantine. Demon hunter supreme, Constantine struggles with his faith while he battles a host of otherworldly beasties. If it rings a bell and you’ve not picked up one of the comics, you’ll be thinking of the Keanu Reeves flick from back in 2008, also based on the same series.
Matt Ryan headlines as Constantine, with Harold Perrineau, Charles Halford and Lucy Griffiths set to co-star. David S. Goyer (Man Of Steel) and Daniel Cerone (Dexter) are to tackle producing duties for the series, which is set to air later this year.

This Demon Hunter cosplay from the game Diablo III is really impressive. The aptly named Tasha Cosplay really shows off some skillful armor making. Every time I look at each photo I see a new layer or detail that is crafted to perfection. The lighting in the photography really helps presents the sculptural quality of the armor. Tasha's modeling and the use of location make it feel like you are looking at a scene from a live-action movie.
Now that they are making a Warcraft movie I wonder how long it will be until we see a Diablo movie.

Porting any game from the PC to a console is a one of the enduring challenges of the video game industry. However, when a series like "Diablo," which is so tied to PC gaming culture, makes the jump from mouse and keyboard to the controller it's is an even bigger task. "Diablo III," the latest incarnation in the franchise that helped to define dungeon crawlers, is making its first appearances on consoles, by gracing the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (and eventually the PlayStation 4). In the past, "Diablo" has been less than successful at making an easy transition to consoles (the last attempt was 1998's so-so PlayStation port), so its reasonable that fans of the series may be weary of Blizzard's latest attempt. However, it seems like the team that worked the "Diablo III" port learned from the mistakes of others, and created a really enjoyable, controller-based version of the game.

When I first heard that Diablo III was being ported to consoles I, like probably many others, was skeptical. After playing it, I cannot believe how natural it feels to play with a controller in my hand, but more importantly, it is so damn fun. Not just normal fun, but hilariously fun. Fun that spawns events and parties for years to come. Fun that exemplifies what couch co-op should be.
Sitting on the couch with four of my friends wading through demonic armies elicits emotions I haven’t felt since the days of Phantasy Star Online on the Gamecube and now we have TVs big enough to actually see what is going on! After hours of playing, I realized how much I’ve missed this style of a co-op game. I've played Diablo III on the PC with friends, and countless other co-op games over the internet or even in...

Blizzard recently opened up pre-orders for the upcoming PlayStation 3 version of the best-selling PC title "Diablo III." As a reward for early adopters, the pre-order launch was accompanied by an experience boosting pre-order bonus item for early adopters.
PlayStation gamers who pre-order the console version of "Diablo III" from Amazon, GameStop, or Wal-Mart will receive the Infernal Helm. Wearable at level 1, the Infernal Helm delivers an Xp bonus, which could be pretty darn helpful when you're just starting out. It also looks pretty sweet and can be used by any of the game's five character classes – Witch Doctor, Barbarian, Demon Hunter, Wizard, and Monk. Blizzard is quick to point out that the item will only work with the PS3 version of the game, it's not transferable to the PC version.
"We've poured blood, sweat, and hellfire into creating an epic Diablo 3 experience for PlayStation gamers," said Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime.

Blizzard has announced that the recently revealed PlayStation 3 build of "Diablo III" will be playable at this weekend's Pax East expo in Boston.
According to Blizzard, the "single-player hands-on demo will showcase several key elements that make Diablo III on the PS3 so much fun, including a reimagined interface and inventory system, direct character control, updated camera, and bosses and monsters specifically tuned for console."
The demo Pax East attendees will be treated to will feature gameplay from Act III of the "Diablo III" campaign, and players will have the option to play as either the Demon Hunter or Barbarian character classes.

Last fall, a few things happened at People Can Fly, the Polish studio behind “Painkiller,” “Bulletstorm,” and the upcoming “Gears of War: Judgment”: Epic Games bought the studio, and the founding trio of Andrew Poznanski, Adrian Chmielarz, and Michal Kosieradzki left the company to go indie.
They went on to form a new company called The Astronauts, and they’ve just announced their first game: “The Vanishing of Ethan Carter.” The Astronauts describe their game as “weird fiction,” a literary term that refers to the supernatural and macabre stories popularized at the turn of the century -- think H. P. Lovecraft and Arthur Machen.
In “Vanishing,” players will control a young detective with the ability to visualize lethal crimes exactly as they happened investigating the kidnapping of a young boy. Your paranormal skills and old-fashioned detective work will form the basis of your investigations.

Today, Ubisoft announced that they were partnering with McFarlane Toys to bring "Assassin's Creed 3's" Connor and Haytham into the world as 6" figures. The duo, who are being offered up as the first series in a possible ongoing line of toys are the latest game to toy project for McFarlane Toys who have in the past brought characters from the "Halo" and "Metal Gear Solid" universes to toy shelves across the country.
The company's founder--comic writer, artist, and businessman--Todd McFarlane, spoke to us by phone recently about working with Ubisoft, the perils and pitfalls of working with game companies when they're protective of their characters, and some of his dream projects from other games and comic companies.

American McGee’s “Akaneiro: Demon Hunter,” the gorgeous free-to-play action-rpg loosely based on the Little Red Riding Hood story, will be start receiving its Kickstarter-promised updates just as soon as the team at Shanghai-based SpicyHorse Studios gets back in the office after the Chinese New Year.
“Akaneiro” went live last week, offering prospective demon-slayers the option of downloading a client or playing in their browsers. At the same time, the company wrapped up a successful Kickstarter campaign to add new features and modes to the game, including weapon-crafting and co-op.
“We expect the initial ‘foundation’ work to take at least two months, starting around the end of February,” a SpicyHorse spokesperson told me. “We can’t start right away as we’re heading into the Chinese equivalent of the American ‘Thanksgiving+Christmas+New Year’ holiday vortex.”

The artist formerly known as “Tera” has been re-branded and re-launched: the action-oriented Mmorpg is now “Tera: Rising,” and it’s free-to-play.
“Tera” first made waves because of its real-time combat, which is more similar to a console-style action game than the click-click-click of traditional MMOs. Players can form alliances and join political parties as they vie for position in the fantasy world showcased by “Rising”’s slick new trailer. “Tera” can be kind of grind-heavy at first, but it’s hard to whine too much about a free game, assuming the monetization model isn’t too pernicious.
Players who have already bought “Tera” will be automatically upgraded to “Founder status,” which comes with a few in-game perks. Any player can also pay to get “Elite status” which is even perk-ier. This handy chart details the different status levels.

Let’s face it, Paradox Interactive has a bad reputation for publishing buggy, slapped together games, but that’s going to change moving forward, according to CEO Frederik Wester.
Speaking with GameSpy, the boss had some harsh words about his company’s games, calling the launch of “Gettysburg: Armored Warfare” “terrible.” The alternate history real-time strategy/third-person shooter hybrid was marred by bugs before being extensively patched.
“We did not do our homework,” Wester said. “It was a one-man team with some backup… we learned a lot from that release. We've had many bad releases before that, as well, and we learned something every time.”
Wester also explained that Paradox cancelled four different games last year because they were “not up to the standards we’re currently looking for at Paradox.” Losing four games worth of potential sales was hard for the company -- Wester called it...

Boutique gaming mag Kill Screen has posted a great developer diary with the audio team behind “Dead Space 3,” particularly detailing how the audio cues were captured (the screaming Necromorphs are actually sound designer David Lowmiller’s niece) and how and when the game engine decides to use them.
Visceral Games implemented what they’re calling the Fear System into “Dead Space 3”: everything in the game has a hidden fear value between 0 and 1. At a fear level of 0, protagonist Isaac Clarke is cool, calm, and collected; at 1, his heart is beating out of his chest, his breathing is haggard, Necromorphs are screeching, and the game’s score has degraded into “a symphony of destruction,” says executive producer Steve Papoutsis.
I think most gamers assume that a game’s score or soundtrack is relatively straightforward to implement: you record a song, slap it into the background, and move...

In the least surprising bit of news today, Polish game-house CD Projekt Red has finally, formally announced “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” the last game in Geralt’s planned trilogy.
The announcement could have been a surprise if it weren’t for those meddling kids sleuthing out clues from CD Projekt’s “Cyberpunk 2077” trailer, but alas. The fact that the studio spent last week bragging about their fancy new tech, an engine capable of “creating an open environment with a complex, multi-thread story,” only added more evidence to “Wild Hunt”’s announcement.
In any case, the confirmation comes in the form of GameInformer’s March cover story. Details are somewhat scant, but we can glean a few things about Geralt’s latest gadabout: he’s got a beard now, for example. “Wild Hunt” introduces a new “monster hunting” mechanic that apparently involves gathering clues first. It will be an open-world game,...

If you took Little Red Riding Hood, gave her a katana, and dropped her in a village in Edo-era Japan, you’d have a rough approximation of “Akaneiro: Demon Hunter,” a gorgeous new action-rpg by American McGee’s Spicy Horse studio.
The game’s Kickstarter was funded yesterday, but “Akaneiro” is already fully playable in your browser from places like Kongregate or Spicy Horse’s own site. Akaneiro has also been Greenlit for distribution on Steam. The game is, for all intents and purposes, finished: there’s a full-featured, stable game, with all of its maps, characters, items, and free-to-play monetization systems in place.
While the game is free-to-play, players can use real money to buy karma shards, Akaneiro’s in-game currency. Karma is used to buy items and unlock new maps, but there is a one-time, $20 buy-it-all option that unlocks the entire game at once.

2012 was loaded with letdowns, some from my favorite bands, and plenty of surprises. See if you can guess what made the cut in my list of the years 10 best and 5 worst albums. The following list is about as eclectic as it can get. Not only is my number one choice easily 'Album of the Year' but it's going to be really difficult to top for several years to come. It's an absolute modern day classic from a legend. Although they didn't make the top 10, I should acknowledge the following 4.5 Star efforts that nearly made the list but didn't quite make it this year: Madonna's new album 'Mdna', Twiztid's latest 'Abominationz' and Lana Del Rey's 'Born to Die'. Top 10 Albums of 2012 10. Demon Hunter – True Defiance "Demon Hunter have risen far beyond the stigma of being just one of 'those...

Tim York is the man heard crooning about Bigfoot during the opening credits of Blood Beast of Monster Mountain Aka Monster Mountain Aka The Legend of McCullough’s Mountain. The lyrics talk of how the tale of the creature changes. Not nearly as many changes as the movie itself went through.
The 1976 docudrama Blood Beast of Monster Mountain is actually the 1965 horror comedy Demon Hunter: The Legend of Blood Mountain retitled and chopped up with new footage inserted by Donn Davison, who appears in the film billed as “World Traveler, Lecturer, and Psychic Investigator”. Really more like a producer who made a go of it in the Seventies repackaging obscure, older movies with new footage for re-release.
Demon Hunter: The Legend of Blood Mountain was the starring vehicle for a little known 1960’s Georgia horror movie host who went by the name “Bestoink Dooley”. Sort of a bumbling...

The film that blew the roof off box office records across Asian this summer - Martial arts, fantasy epic Painted Skin: The Resurrection - is heading for a release in the UK, but all we can say is its damn good job we’re here to tell you that, because they’re at it again with the name changes. We really wish distributors would stop rebadging their Asian film titles into something that has little or no relation to the original. Yes sure it’s great they’re getting a release, but they are shooting themselves in the foot with these overly jazzed up names. How anyone (who isn’t sensible and regular reads 24fps) in the UK eagerly searching for ‘Painted Skin: The Resurrection’ is expected to know that it’s ‘Demon Hunter: The Resurrection’ that they should be looking for, seems to have passed the marketeers by.

Following China's ban on foreign films, Painted Skin 2 has become the country's highest grossing local film of all time, while also departing from tradition
Even The Dark Knight Rises isn't dark enough to slip through a Chinese blackout. Christopher Nolan's big finale recently got the thumbs up from the Beijing censors – but the ban on foreign films that started on 25 June means it has to wait its turn for a cinema slot. But what's bad news for angsty Gotham billionaires is happy days for human heart-quaffing fox demons; part of the reason why the Chinese government periodically imposes these restrictions. Supernatural romance sequel Painted Skin 2: The Resurrection, released three days after the ban, became the first local film in nearly six months to sit on the No 1 spot.
It did a bit more than that, in fact. Not only was it China's third highest opening weekend ever (300m yuan/$47m,...

The vampire-slaying exploits of America's 16th president are getting major press this week with the release of the big-screen adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's bestselling, pseudo-historical novel "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter."
Timur Bekmambetov directs and Benjamin Walker stars in the film, which paints a surprisingly convincing picture of how the President's quest for vengeance against vampires could have shaped our country's history.
All things being equal, Honest Abe couldn't possibly be the only world leader to have supernatural beings (other than skeletons) in his closet. Surely the weird hobbies and strange experiences that others have notoriously had could translate to equally compelling books and films.
Here are five more world leaders and their experiences that lend themselves quite nicely to a tale of fantastical historical fiction.
Theodore Roosevelt – Demon Hunter
The 26th president of the United States would never just sit back and let anything in life defeat him.

Today our cinemas will be invaded with a curious concoction of dubious historical accuracy and fang-faced bloodshed as Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter unveils itself to the world. But how far will this new parody culture go? Who else is being lined up against the wall of re-imaginiation? And just what the hell is a wall of re-imagination anyway? Let’s find out…
Earlier this year we had John Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe taking on the mantle of a serial killer hunter in The Raven and this fictional historical (or fictorical if you will*) trend was given an unhealthy shot in the face when Seth Grahame-Smith injected Jane Austen’s much loved Pride and Prejudice with a zombie outbreak, throwing the Bennett household into a fury.
