Featured review
Gritty and emotional - brings out issues of race, and abandonment of children. This movie is based on the director's personal experiences when he worked in a London children's home. God's Forgotten House is a testament for "left behind" kids and those who care for them. The movie was originally meant to be filmed in England, but the script was adapted to be set in Harlem in the USA - the music and language was modified accordingly; and that was done quite well. The struggle to survive, where the weak need someone to intercede against those who take advantage and manipulate people to their own ends is well represented. Negative external and internal forces within the house are dealt with and the viewer gets a feeling of hope that a difference can be made. Superb acting and intense situations give this movie a raw edge that will leave you remembering it long after you have left the theatre. I saw this movie in Cardiff, Wales at it's world premier where Richard Burton's brother commented that the movie was brilliant and something his brother would have been proud of.
