I remember watching this as a kid. WHY don't they make these type excellent productions available on DVD? I'd love to have shown it to my kids or now my grandkids. Fortunately I see the BBC did a miniseries also that I CAN access.
Obviously I can't give the greatest review now without having seen it again, but I did read the book right after watching it. I remember the child actor doing well, sumptuous costumes, being completely sucked into the story. Having to wait a whole week between episodes and making sure I didn't miss anything. Wishing I could watch it again. If there were any reruns, I never caught them. I also have been frustrated that there really don't seem to have been any decent movies made of this story since to watch either. But the miniseries format is the best way to adapt classic books, since you have the time to do them justice.
