UK actor-filmmaker Chiwetel Ejiofor and filmmaker Michael Winterbottom will receive honorary Raindance Icon awards at this year’s Raindance Film Festival (June 19-28).

Composer Christopher Lennertz was declared a BMI Icon at Broadcast Music Inc.’s 39th annual Film, TV and Visual Media Awards Wednesday night (May 10) in Beverly Hills.

Lennertz, a two-time Emmy nominee, veteran film composer and game-music creator, was honored for his 30-year career in media music-making.

BMI president and CEO Mike O’Neill presented the award, noting that Lennertz was “legendary for his diverse and distinct impact across the worlds of film, television and gaming” and telling the 51-year-old composer, “your captivating scores have taken us on a thrilling ride.”

Added BMI’s VP creative, film, TV and visual media Tracy McKnight: “His compelling body of work, from blockbuster films to hit TV shows and gaming, highlights Christopher’s passion for all styles of music and has made him one of the industry’s most sought-after composers. He is also dedicated to giving back through philanthropic work and advancing the next generation of composers.

Will Smith was in proud dad mode on Sunday as he took in daughter Willow Smith‘s Coachella set.

The 54-year-old actor shared a video to his Instagram page from the heart of the audience while Willow, 22, performed on stage at the Mojave tent. Will was grinning from ear-to-ear in the clip, which he titled “Willowchella!!” At one point during her show, Willow invited her 24-year-old brother, Jaden Smith, up to perform their collaboration, “Summertime in Paris.”

“The Horse Thieves, Roads of Time,” co-directed by Kazakhstan’s Yerlan Nurmukhambetov and Japan’s Lisa Takeba, has been set as the opening film of next month’s Busan International Film Festival.

“Although Kazakh films are not very familiar [to our audiences], the country has produced masterworks for the past five years,” said festival director Jay Jeon at the festival’s first press conference held in Busan on Wednesday morning. “Thieves” tells the tale of a man who is murdered on his way home after selling his horses at a market. Some pretty big news dropped to kick off San Diego Comic Con week this year: Idw and Rob Liefeld announced that the legendary creator is coming on board for a Snake Eyes focused comic in 2020.

Nottingham-based Griffin Pictures and Bristol’s Early Day Films are among 50 selected for Creative England’s 2019 CE50 list, for ’innovative and disruptive’ companies and individuals across film, games and digital media from the regions.

The fifth edition of the annual list includes 19 entries for the film and TV industry.

Griffin Pictures is run by Anna Griffin, a 2018 Screen Star of Tomorrow, and is currently working on Arash Ashtiani’s Calais refugee drama The Tunnel with BFI Network development funding.

Jaden Smith may have been nervous ahead of his final Coachella performance, but knowing all that his son has accomplished throughout his life, Will Smith knew he’d be able to handle it.

In his latest YouTube vlog, the 50-year-old actor documented the hours leading up to his 20-year-old son’s weekend two set at the annual music festival, where Will surprised fans by joining Jaden onstage for a performance of his son’s song “Icon.”

Looking visibly anxious before stepping out onstage, Jaden confessed to his father on camera that he was feeling “nervous as f—.”

Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame made history last weekend with record-shattering debuts in the Us and internationally including Australia.

The 22nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise notched $US1.223 billion globally – $US357.1 million in the Us and $US866.5 million in the rest of the world.

Among the milestones, the action adventure is the first film in history to surpass $US1 billion in the opening weekend and the first to make more than $US300 million domestically, trouncing Avengers: Infinity War’s $US257.7 million debut. Actor Allu Arjun, who hasnt had a release in two years, on Monday announced three new projects on the occasion of his 36th birthday. Arjun announced a film each with directors Trivikram, Sukumar and Venu Sriram. Arjun's film with Trivikram will go on the floors later this month. It will mark his third outing with the filmmaker after Julayi and Son Of Sathyamurty.

The makers of the film on Monday unveiled a special poster to announce their project with Arjun.

Arjun is teaming up with Sukumar for the third time in this yet-untitled project, currently dubbed as AA 20. Rashmika Mandanna has been finalised as the film's leading lady.

Mythri Movie Makers will bankroll Sukumar's film. If everything goes as planned, the project will go on the floors in the second half of the year.

Arjun's third film with director Venu Sriram is titled Icon. The makers released a special poster to commemorate the announcement.
