I rented the DVD today despite the jacket cover not being overly influential. The most difficult part was locating this movie on this website since it is called Code of the Templars on the DVD, and nothing recognizable pulled up in a search. I was only able to find it by searching an actor's name.
The hardest part for me with this movie was getting beyond the English dubbing. I could tell that the casting was done well and that the cast were good actors of good caliber, but the dubbing initially was poorly done and I almost ejected it from the player. I would like an opportunity to view this movie without the dubbing and read subtitles.
This movie is once again about the holy good-goodies versus the greedy baddies sword-fighting and duking it out to fight to drink from the grail, and the opposers to fight to protect the secret location of the holy grail. Such movie plots are fun and enjoyable, and this one was no different. The lopping of heads was similar to Highlander, but the main difference was we got to see the gushing blood, which I think could have and I would have preferred it if it'd have been left out. There were times I felt the sword fights were too long and one was particularly not done well to the point of being corny .. almost as if to say, let's stick in a fight for some film. Also, I think if some of the gore and shortening some of the sword fights my knees would not have started aching due to sitting so long. But, since I was able to move about I didn't quit viewing it .. I was enjoying it. I'm just glad I'd not seen it with commercials or my body would not have been able to cope.
For a holy grail treasure hunt foreign movie, this one was entertaining with explanations to keep guiding me through as things unfolded. Once I got past the bad dubbing that was done at the start, I got into it and enjoyed it.
