After working on American Sniper with Clint Eastwood, an actor who has made a successful career out of combining leading man duties with work behind the camera on several films, Bradley Cooper seems ever more eager to follow in his footsteps. He’s in advanced negotiations to direct Warner Bros’ long-gestating remake of A Star Is Born.Cooper’s directorial ambitions are a matter of record – he’s already attached to make Honeymoon With Harry – but the new A Star Is Born seems like a much bigger and high profile job for a first-time director. Yet he was already aware of the possibility thanks to his established relationship with Eastwood, who seriously considered casting Cooper in the drama about mentoring and the often parlous nature of stardom when he was still on board to make it. It was the friendly connection they forged during that process that led Cooper to...

Bradley Cooper has apparently been on the look for the perfect script that he can then turn into his directorial debut, and not only has he now picked out a screenplay, but he has also lined up Robert De Niro to star. According to Deadline, Bradley Cooper is pining to oversee the production of Honeymoon With Harry, which he will make with the folks at New Line. Honeymoon With Harry is currently being re-written by Dan Fogelman after a decade in development. Originally, the studio wanted the comedy to simply star Bradley Cooper with Robert De Niro, and the two have been linked to the project since 2010. Since then, they have had the chance to work together on Limitless, Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle , and New Line believes that reuniting the duo could lead to another big success. As of last week there was no official deal in place...

Having been a producer on several films including Silver Linings Playbook, The Words and his latest release, awards wannabe American Sniper, Bradley Cooper has been itching to sit in the director’s chair for a while. He may get his chance on Honeymoon With Harry.Warner Bros. has been trying to get this one made for years now, burning through drafts and attracting the interest of actors such as Cooper and his Silver Linings Playbook co-star Robert De Niro, who both took part in a table read for the script in 2010. Now the studio has contracted Crazy, Stupid, Love writer Dan Fogelman to try to push it into production.Honeymoon is the sad, strange story of a former womaniser and party animal (Cooper) that decides to sober up when he meets a woman and falls in love. His father-in-law to be (De Niro) sizes him up from the off and,...

Stuck in development hell for years, comedy drama Honeymoon With Harry has at last been given a new lease of life. Per Deadline, New Line Cinema has brought fresh blood aboard the ten-year old property in the hopes of making production a reality. First up, the studio’s roped in Crazy, Stupid, Love scribe Dan Fogelman to punch up the script and is expected to secure Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro in the two lead roles.
Judging by the synopsis offered by the outlet, the movie sounds like perfect awards fodder – that perfect hybrid of tragedy and comedy – ripe for Academy consideration. The prior working relationship between Cooper and De Niro, who collaborated on Limitless and The Silver Linings Playbook, ought to make Cooper’s transition behind the camera a lot smoother as well. While neither have confirmed their involvement, if Cooper signs on he’ll be working double...

Exclusive: After nearly a decade of trying and failing to get to the altar on Honeymoon With Harry, New Line has hired Crazy, Stupid, Love scribe Dan Fogelman to redraft the comedy as a star vehicle for American Sniper‘s Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro. No deal with those two yet, but they are keen to work together again and this is a project they are both sweet on.
Fogelman is a high-priced writer and what he writes usually gets made, so the message here is that New Line is serious about moving forward. Cooper has long been intrigued with playing a formerly self-centered womanizing booze-hound who changed his ways when he met a girl and fell in love. He’s loathed by the girl’s dad, who recognizes himself in the young man. They get engaged anyway. When she dies tragically just before their wedding, the devastated groom...

Forest Whitaker Also Circling Role For the love of god Robert De Niro, fire your agent. The once-esteemed actor, who has spent the most part of the last decade or two slogging it out in one mediocre picture after another, apparently doesn't know a good movie anymore even if it walks up and bites him in the ass. The actor hemmed and hawed over the drama "Honeymoon With Harry" to the point where director Jonathan Demme gave up on the project. So what to do next? How about another shitty movie with 50 Cent! Deadline reports that De Niro is…...

If you see Limitless this weekend and find yourself enjoying the onscreen chemistry between Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper, take it in; it might be the last time the two star in a film together. While we thought that they’d be re-teaming for the Jonathan Demme-directed Honeymoon with Harry, Deadline has learned that the project is more or less dead.
The reason for its decline has to do with De Niro himself. He’s said to have had constant issues with Paul Haggis’ script, which the director and Jenny Lumet did a re-write of. If one actor, even “one actor” being a lead leaves a film, it could by all means still move on. The problem is that Cooper didn’t want to leave his co-star behind, so this only created more problems.

Limitless co-stars Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper just can't seem to quit. Each other. They're the Ronnie and Sammi of Hollywood right now; after signing on to star side-by-side in Jonathan Demme and Jenny Lumet's Honeymoon With Harry, De Niro began voicing second thoughts about the project.
Cooper didn't want to leave De Niro behind, and Demme (Silence Of The Lambs) ended up backing out of the directing gig rather than having to "make the movie in a negative environment." Now Honeymoon With Harry, a project that frequently appeared on best unproduced scripts lists, is basically dead in the water.

It's depressing to read an article about a potentially great movie falling part, but kind of perversely fascinating as well. Today's tale of woe is about Honeymoon With Harry, a project that would have reunited Limitless stars Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper in a script written by Paul Haggis and Rachel Getting Married's Jenny Lumet. Jonathan Demme was all set to direct it, they'd done readigs of the script and everything. and, well, you know how this ends. According to Deadline De Niro single-handedly derailed the project, unwilling to commit even to a script that New Line and Cooper loved; Cooper, not wanting to alienate his co-star, refused to move on with Demme with another actor, and now the project is dead in the water. There's still hope, says Deadline, that Demme might take the project to another studio after he finishes directing a TV pilot for CBS,...

Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro appear together in this weekend's release of Limitless from Virgin/Relativity. So I decided to check on that other reteaming of Cooper and De Niro in the works for New Line, the heartfelt dramedy Honeymoon With Harry, with Jonathan Demme on board to direct. Well, it's not in the works anymore because of the usual De Niro paralysis. I've learned that Demme recently dropped out because he grew frustrated with De Niro's hemming and hawing about the project -- even after Demme and Jenny Lumet (the same team that did the wonderful Rachel Getting Married) did a rewrite of the Paul Haggis script regularly featured on “best unmade” lists. I heard both New Line and Cooper loved the new version. But De Niro still balked. "Demme basically said to Cooper, "De Niro will never do this. It's a wild goose chase. Bradley, we should make this movie together,...

Having worked together on one of the best films of the past five years in the masterpiece that is Rachel Getting Married, it should come as no shock that director Jonathan Demme is looking to his Rachel scribe, Jenny Lumet, for some help on his next project.

After the critical darling that was "Rachel Getting Married," Jenny Lumet and Jonathan Demme are set to reunite on "Honeymoon With Harry," a project that first came to light last fall. Showbiz411 spoke to Lumet who confirmed that the duo are plotting a reteaming which will again see Lumet writing and Demme behind the camera. Paul Haggis wrote the original draft, based on a still-unpublished novel by Bart Baker, and sold it to New Line back in 2004. And while she doesn't name the project to Friedman, last year trade publications confirmed that Lumet came on board to rewrite. The…...

Touchstone buys Holden script
Touchstone Pictures has made a pre-emptive purchase on an untitled romantic comedy from actress-turned-writer Kara Holden. Karz Entertainment's Mike Karz will produce, with Russell Hollander executive producing and Katherine Brown overseeing for the company. The film is described as being in the vein of Sweet Home Alabama, with a city guy falling for a Southern girl. The concept was inspired by an idea by Louanne Brickhouse, who brought the project to Karz and Touchstone and will oversee for the studio. This is the fourth sale for Holden in the past year. Other sales include Spin, a project based on a comic strip by Rob Liefeld, to Spyglass Entertainment. Her other projects include My Girl, which is set up at Paramount-based Robert Cort Prods., and Inner Bitch, which is at Paramount and Grammnet. Holden is repped by David Boxerbaum of Metropolitan Talent Agency and managed by Brooklyn Weaver. Her attorney is Adam Kaller. Other upcoming Karz Entertainment projects include Honeymoon With Harry, which Paul Haggis is writing and directing for New Line Cinema.
