Zastrozzi Channel Four's (not FilmFour) most expensive production outside of Brookside. A dreamlike adaptation of Shelley's first Gothic novel of the same name over 4 hour long episodes; Episode 1 ; "Capture", Episode 2; "Conspiracy", Episode 3: "Seduction" and Episode 4: "Murder". The production will be remembered for one of Max Wall's great performances and an early appearance of Tilda Swinton. The plot is typically Gothic all seduction and death, but it's the writing for the small parts that make it most memorable as they witness tragedy unfolding. Daring in its conception and delivery it was slated by the critics, who didn't want such risky output from Channel Four. Shame.
