Featured review
For me, this is the best comedy series with an ongoing plot ever made in Portugal. The various roles are a brilliant depiction of the various everyday characters: Lisbon's Pseudo-Intellectual with a greasy look who knows nothing about nothing except what he reads in books and is constantly making a fool of himself, the cab-driver with a shrine dedicated to his football club who married a black woman ONLY that his son would also be black and be more like his football idol (Eusébio), the Eastern construction worker with a Phd. just to name a couple. Then, there's the really bizarre ones: the painter who lives in a colorless attic because it needs some remodeling and it has ghost (not apparition ghosts, but TV ghosts, the image gets all fuzzy and he has to bang the walls for it to get OK), the Mexican immigrants with dubbed voices in Brazilian Portuguese with the out-of-sync lips (like in Asian movies). The series even have a Villain a la James Bond (well... he's stroking a cat...) who wants to demolish the taxi-driver's house so he can build a Cultural Centre. Weird thing is that all the actors but Maria Rueff excelled in other series. Unfortunately, she is stuck in feeble comedy roles in a 3rd class Sunday night talk show.
