The film canisters used as props were from Fahrenheit 9/11 (2004) and Before Sunset (2004).

The scene where Peter and Dave tell Kevin that the film grant has fallen through was originally supposed to have artificial smoke to add to the mood. However, when the machine was turned on, the smoke got sucked into a nearby air conditioning unit. The smoke then set off smoke alarms throughout the hotel-casino where the scene was being shot. The smoke then had to be turned off but the alarms stayed on for over an hour. The alarms cannot be heard in the scene due to audio work done in post-production.

Jennifer gets her last name from the screenwriter's favorite author, Ayn Rand.
