Rutger Hauer was asked to play the part of Floris' dad, the same part he played in Floris (1969), but he refused.
Still keen to feature the original Floris in this remake/spoof/sequel, the story was changed so that Michiel Huisman's Floris is now Rutger Hauer's grandson, enabling them to show Hauer in flashback footage from the original series.
