Fourth movie version of the comic book character created by Mars Ravelo. It's also the first movie that features three superheroes created by Mars Ravelo - Captain Barbell, Darna and Lastikman. The two characters - Darna and Lastikman - were also developed into movies.
Herbert Bautista who played Enteng in the third version, Captain Barbell (1986), was offered the chance to appear as the uncle of the new Enteng (ultimately played by Ogie Alcasid).
Jaclyn Jose was the first actress tapped to play the mother of Enteng. The role was later given to Snooky Serna, making it the come-back big-screen team-up of Snooky Serna and Albert Martinez. The two were popular love partners during the '80s.
Albert Martinez was rushed to hospital after accidentally swallowing kerosene when shooting the film. Confined for three days, it took eight days for the actor to fully recover. He had to have his blood tested for eight days. A stunt double was supposed to do the sensitive part but Albert decided to do the scene after finding the double to be smaller and darker.
