After this film, Devar was starting a film tittled Aadmi Bhool Jaata Hai with Rajesh Khanna, Tina Munium and Padmini Kolhapure and writer Ram Govind was the director. This film was annouced after the release of Souten. Aadmi Bhool Jaata Hai was shelved and instead Bewafai was made.
The film was initially titled "Jawab Ka Jawab".
This film was Devar Films' remake of their own hit Tamil film "Thai Veedu" (1983). Both films were directed by R. Thyagarajan and had Rajinikanth and Anita Raj in leading roles.
