Also in today’s Horror Highlights: Ray Harryhausen: Special Effects Titan Blu-ray / DVD release details, info on Europe’s 4K Uhd Blu-ray release of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and a Q&A with Restoration director/co-writer/co-star Zack Ward.
Exclusive: Watch the Short Film For My Facebook: Press Release: “It all started with a funny image that popped in writer/director Carl Kelsch’s head: a play on words that yielded the final shots of ‘For My Facebook’ (To say more would spoil the ending). With only a few directing credits under his belt, he recruited jack-of-all-horror-trades Louie Cortes (Dir. of Attack of the Brain People, writer of Blood Slaughter Massacre) to do Sound. Kelsch, who also operated the camera, got input from Cortes on blocking and framing.

Sometimes when you walk into a room to interview the talent from a movie, you feel underdressed somewhat, or at times, even rather uncool. Well, never has that feeling felt so prominent, upon walking in to interview the lead roles of Ben Gregor’s All Stars Theo Stevenson and Akai Osei-Mansfield, who with their suave hair do’s and trendy outfits, made me feel, well, a little bit old.
The pair – who play Ethan and Jade, respectively, were in fine spirits as their chemistry from within the film was as evident in real life, and the two teenagers discussed their close friendship. They also talk about balancing their acting careers with their schoolwork, and Akai – famed for his dancing ability – talks about his role in the film, while Theo also delves into his own dancing talents.

Spoiler alert! Before you read our exclusive interview with Joelle Carter, Justified’s Ava Crowder, make sure you’ve watched this week’s episode, “Peace of Mind,” written by Taylor Elmore and Leonard Chang and directed by Gwyneth Horder-Payton. With Drew Thompson now in custody, the mad scramble continues as Ellen May (Abby Miller) is on the run with Raylan (Timothy Olyphant) Nicky Augustine (Mike O’Malley) and Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins) giving chase. Carter spoke with us about “Peace of Mind” as well as many memorable scenes throughout the season.
BuzzFocus: Let’s jump right in and talk about last night’s episode, “Peace of Mind,” an outstanding episode for Ava Crowder, who returned to the Noble’s Holler with $500,000 of Theo Tonin’s money to get Ellen May and it ends up in another friendship destruction for Ava.

Between all that singing, dancing, and pairing into every romantic combination imaginable, there’s sometimes room for (usually mediocre) acting on Glee. However, the judges haven’t seemed to take acting ability into consideration up until now, making this week pretty crucial. I don’t know about you, but I think it would be important to make sure a person can act before giving them a role on a TV show.
Homework Assignment: “Addicted To Love” by Robert Palmer
As an added twist, guest mentor Dianna Argon held up cards during the performance with certain emotions for each contestant to portray while singing. Michael had to act determined, while Lily got scared, Blake got angry, Aylin got anxious, and Ali got excited, although for her that didn’t require any acting at all. They all did a pretty good job, and Michael finally got his first homework win.

“Kurt Sutter has really got together some of the most amazing character actors in the business,” says Kim Coates, who stars as Tig on FX’s Sons of Anarchy.
Recently, we spoke with Coates regarding the upcoming season as well some of the standout Tig moments from season’s past.
“He just keeps fucking up, doesn’t he?” Coates stated. “He shoots first.”
Season 4 ended with the death of Laroy’s girlfriend, Damon Pope’s daughter. We’ll see the fallout from Tig’s actions (there are some significant consequences) in the Sons of Anarchy Season 5 premiere.
Editor’S Pick: Inside the Sons of Anarchy Season 5 Premiere
Given Tig’s past choices, one could presume that Tig will be holding back this year, especially now that he’s no longer the Sgt at Arms and Jax (Charlie Hunnam) sits at the head of the table.
Coates says different. “Tig is...

There are season finales, and there are Justified season finales, and “Slaughterhouse” brought not just the season to a new high, but the entire series. There was not a single line or character wasted. We’ve sat and watched supporting characters like Limehouse (Mykelti Williamson), Arlo (Raymond Berry) and Johnny Crowder (David Meunier) sit back and law low but they all became relevant and important to the bigger picture and it all unfolded so creatively. Even Raylan’s hat played a big role. Graham Yost and the writers rewarded patient viewing, and did such a tremendous job of showing us more than telling it.
From Raylan (Timothy) playing Harlan Roulette with Wynn Duffy (Jere Burns) to Limehouse and Boyd meeting at the bridge, Raylan’s suicide mission into Limehouse’s diner, the entire situation with Quarles kept us on the edge, unable to swallow. While I could single out any...

Episode 312: “Coalition”
He scraped, he scrapped and he limped on for nearly two full seasons but Dickie Bennett (Jeremy Davies) finally reached the end of his run caught red handed while trying to steal the money left behind by his mother, Mags Bennett. Raylan (Timothy Olyphant) finally put a bullet into him, though it’s not clear if it was enough to kill him.
Raylan: You keep thinking you’re tough and you keep going to jail to remind you your not.
Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins) will not be satisfied knowing that Dickie is back in jail or is dead at Raylan’s gun instead of his hands; he wants to finish what he started at Johnny’s bar. As Dickie laid on the ground shot, the camera panned upward to Limehouse (Mykelti Williamson), proudly sitting before him, giving Raylan the tip he needed to save Loretta (Kaitlyn Devers...

When it comes to shows aimed at the seriously young, there aren’t many that stand out for me. One of the few is Between the Lions, a show my kids love, and I love that they love. New episodes are coming your way, and I wanted to give a shout out to the show by including a lot of information from a recent press release.
Make sure you’re tuning in September 20th for some great new installments of the adventures of your favorite Lions, and all their friends.
On the heels of exceptional research results released by the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School for Communication*, the Emmy(r) Award-winning series Between the Lions heads into its 10th anniversary season with many reasons to celebrate! The study demonstrates that Between the Lions, when combined with teachers who are equipped with curriculum materials and who have received training, has...

Public Enemies (Universal) Johnny Depp portrays legendary Depression-era bank robber John Dillinger in co- writer/director Michael Mann’s take on America’s first “Public Enemy Number One.” Like many big studio releases today, Public Enemies has it all: A-list talent before and behind the camera, but lacks a heart or soul that allows its audience to connect with it. Film plays out like a “true crime” TV show with re-enactments of famous events cast with top actors and shot by the best technicians in the business, with little, if any, character or story development to hold it together in between. A real disappointment from one of our finest filmmakers and finest actors. The lone standout: the great character actor Stephen Lang as a hard-eyed lawman who’s seen a lot, but manages to retain a tiny piece of his heart. For a better take on the same subject,...

Watchmen—The Ultimate Cut (Warner Bros.) Director Zack Snyder’s film of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ landmark graphic novel is as worthy an adaptation of a great book that has ever been filmed. In an alternative version of the year 1985, Richard Nixon is serving his third term as President and super heroes have been outlawed by a congressional act, in spite of the fact that two of the most high-profile “masks,” Dr. Manhattan (Billy Cruddup) and The Comedian (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) helped the U.S. win the Vietnam War. When The Comedian is found murdered, many former heroes become concerned that a conspiracy is afoot to assassinate retired costumed crime fighters. Former masks Nite Owl (Patrick Wilson), Silk Spectre (Malin Akerman) and still-operating Rorschach (Jackie Earle Haley, in an Oscar-worthy turn) launch an investigation of their own, all while the Pentagon’s “Doomsday...

Who Is Kk Downey? - DVD Review
There is such a need to become famous nowadays.
When you break it down, fame isn’t really a commodity that can be stored away, saved for later, or preserved. It’s fleeting when and if it happens and it is gone just as quickly. What makes this movie such a delight is its meditation on the nature of fame but it does so with the kind of obnoxiousness that requires a humorist’s touch.

Had enough of vampires yet? Not if the weekend's Scream Awards are any indication. So it's a safe assumption that you're open to more adaptations of vampire stories to watch in between installments of the "Twilight" franchise and episodes of "True Blood." Try Moira Buffini's British play "A Vampire Story," which is now headed to the big screen.
Husband-and-wife producers Stephen Woolley and Elizabeth Karlsen ("How to Lose Friends and Alienate People") announced the adaptation, which has been retitled "Byzantium," among a whole slew of projects their company, Number 9 Films, is currently developing. Woolley has some previous experience with vampire films. As a longtime collaborator with filmmaker Neil Jordan, Woolley produced "Interview with a Vampire."
/Film's English correspondent, Brendon Connelly, shares the plot of "A Vampire Story" over at that site, and he's certainly correct to say it sounds like a British version of "Let the Right One In,...

I have a thoroughly boring day job wherein I spend 8 hours a day sitting in front of a computer terminal entering data from health care forms. It doesn’t take a whole lot of brain power. Lucky me, we’re allowed to bring our mp3 players of choice and listen to music or whatever to keep us from slamming our foreheads into our monitors. I loaded up my iPod Nano with all the music I could stand to listen to and did my thing. The only problem was, I would zone out and get into the music and want to sing along. Not so bad for me, really, except for the fact that it’s generally frowned upon in a room full of other computer drones. They have their own shit to listen to.

Writer: Stephanie Joyce.
A love story set in the backdrop of hell "Necromentia" is an unreleased horror feature that offers three intertwined stories in a non-linear story-telling fashion. Centering around the characters Morbius, Hagen, and Travis each character interacts with the others while searching for love despite the pain of betrayal and the hopelessness of recovery from dementia. From the puzzling script of Stephanie Joyce (April's Last) and the creative direction of Pearry Theo (The Gene Generation) "Necromentia" is a horrifying glimpse at death magic and the underworld.
Beginning with Hagen (Santiago Craig) believing his girlfriend will return to him despite the difficulties of death the picture quickly introduces the charismatic Travis (Chad Grimes) who is searching for a reconnection with his lost brother Tommy. Using black magic and trickery Hagen is sent to the underworld as a "guinea pig" to return with the soul of...

David Furnish, DVD cover for the director's cut of Tantrums and Tiaras
Just over fifteen years ago, David Furnish attended a dinner where he met pop superstar Elton John, an evening that would forever alter Furnish’s life. Two years after that fateful evening, Furnish had quit his job at a prestigious London advertising agency, moved in with John, and, as he famously documented in Tantrums and Tiaras (his first foray into filmmaking) joined John on his 1995 world tour.
This week, a director’s cut of Tantrums and Tiaras is being released, the first time the film has been available in any home format in the U.S. Furnish recently took time to talk with AfterElton.com about why he made the movie, how it changed his relationship with John, and what it’s like to be one half of the highest profile same-sex couples in the world. Among the list are some regular Sundance faces and notably many first time filmmakers in this non-competitive category. The highly anticipated documentary film from Morgan Spurlock (that's him above on the camel) gets featured in doc section - after taking on McD's this time out he does what the U.S president has failed to do: actually try and find Bin Laden. Another film that will generate smiles is Stephen Walker's Young@Heart - imagine Coldplay sung by your grandma... Sony Pictures Classics picked up those rights a while back. Trio to remake van Gogh
TORONTO -- Steve Buscemi, Stanley Tucci and Bob Balaban have signed on to direct U.S. remakes of three films by the late Dutch director Theo van Gogh. Van Gogh was murdered in November in Amsterdam by Islamic radical Mohammed Bouyeri, who confessed to the slaying and was jailed for life. Van Gogh's murder followed a televised airing of his short film Submission, which portrayed violence against women in Islamic societies. Van Gogh's final feature 06/05: The Sixth of May has its North American premiere Thursday at the Toronto International Film Festival. As a tribute to the filmmaker, the three U.S. actor-directors have agreed to helm remakes of three of his films -- 06, the 1994 Dutch foreign-language Academy Award submission; Blind Date and Interview.
