Kurt Angle had been diagnosed with a heavily injured neck before the show and many thought that if a mistake were made in the ring, Kurt may wind up paralyzed. During their match, Brock Lesnar was extra-careful with the injured Kurt. Many told Kurt not to wrestle, but Kurt insisted on putting on a show in the main event. After the match, Kurt Angle was hospitalized and spent the next three months out of action. Angle returned in July and recaptured the WWE Championship from Brock Lesnar in a Triple Threat Match.
Goldberg makes his WWE debut the night after this event and stays with the company for 1 year, his final match being at WrestleMania XX.

The World Tag-Team Championship match pitting Chief Sean Morley and Lance Storm (with the Dudley Boyz in their corner) against Rob Van Dam and Kane was originally supposed to take place on the actual PPV, but was pushed to Sunday Night Heat just to make room for both the Miller Lite Catfight Girls segment and Limp Bizkit's mini-concert. This was a controversial move, as Kane and Van Dam were and are considered two of the company's most popular stars.
