This film was director A. Subba Rao's remake of his own hit Telugu film "Dagudu Moothalu" (1964) starring N.T. Rama Rao and B. Saroja Devi. The Telugu film itself was an adaptation of the American film "Mr. Deeds Goes to Town" (1936). "Dagudu Moothalu" (1964) was also remade in Tamil as "Avan Pithana?" (1966).
