This two-part television film is dedicated to the life and work of Nayden Gerov. He completed his education in Odessa, Russia. He returned to his hometown of Plovdiv as a Russian citizen and became the Russian consul in the Ottoman Empire. Gerov helps the national independence movement. He publishes a "Dictionary of the Bulgarian language" and encourages Bulgarians to follow the European model of education and culture.
