The show originated in Great Britain where it was first broadcast by Channel 4 in 1999. PBS re-edited the original British episodes, renamed some and brought in American voice artists to re-narrate many episodes. The PBS version of the show frequently incorporates episodes from other Channel 4 documentary strands.
