The end of April 1945. The Bulgarian military contingent stays in a Hungarian village. A German sniper hides in the woods. The number of his victims grows every day. The Russian sniper Kolya joins the contingent. Kolya uses a diversion to discover the location of the German sniper, but he cannot disarm him. Kolya likes poetry and writes poem. The Hungarian kid Yanush recites Russian poems, which he heard from Kolya. One day the German sniper kills Yanush. The war is over, but Kolya ventures out to look for the German sniper.
