The movie was funded in conjunction with New Mexico's Film Investment Program. The production completely paid off the loan following robust international box office and DVD sales.
Val Kilmer who lives on a nearby New Mexico ranch agreed to participate in this film secondary to his work with New Mexico's Film Investment Program.
The film was originally going to be titled "Black Point" after the small desert town in New Mexico where the story takes place.
A majority of the cast were non-professionals at the time.
