Showtime has signed “Yellowjackets” co-creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson to an overall deal, the network announced on Monday. The husband-and-wife duo will continue to serve as showrunners for the mystery series alongside fellow showrunner Jonathan Lisco, while also developing new projects exclusively for the network.
Gary Levine, who made the announcement with Jana Winograde, his fellow president of entertainment at Showtime Networks Inc., said in a statement, “Ashley and Bart are not only great writers, but they are also wildly original thinkers and creators. I’m not sure I would want to go camping with them, but I sure as hell love working with them, and I’m thrilled they will be working at Showtime for years to come.”

At long last, the gods must have smacked Katie and Will out of their comas on Colony Season 3 Episode 10, because they started talking again. Now the real fun begins.
Man, I've missed these two, and Katie hit the ground running when she laid out the situation for Michelle in no uncertain terms.
That's the Katie we know and love.
With her, Will, and Broussard working together, you know they're going to figure out a way to the island. What they're going to do with that information, I don't know, but one thing's for sure, Kynes is an overseeing mastermind.
There isn't a thing going on in Seattle that he doesn't know about, and he's surrounding himself with the best protection there is for when it all hits the fan.
The wildcard?
Easy, we're friendlies.

13.5 Advanced Thanatology
Advanced Thanatology starts off on a light note, with Sam doing things to make Dean happy. After all the troubles Dean has been through, Sam tries to make things easier on his big brother, which leads to some overindulgence and a hangover-fueled continental breakfast. There's all these amusing little moments between them that can get lost if you're not paying attention. One such moment is when Sam is talking to Dean outside the hotel, and Dean walks away and impatiently waves his arms in front of a not-automatic door. Might seem trivial, but that gesture says a lot more about what Dean is feeling than by what he tells his brother.

Castiel is finally back on Supernatural ... sort of. "The Big Empty" made a big stride towards Castiel reuniting with Sam and Dean (and his foster son Jack) as Castiel was whisked away from the episode's namesake, the void where angels go when they die, to the real world. Castiel is alive and was "resurrected" in a similar field to Dean's grave from season 4. As exciting as it is to have Cas back, the more exciting development of "The Big Empty" was one of the new characters, the unnamed ruler of the Empty. The character made quite an impression and hopefully the episode was just the first appearance of many.

Things are getting to a boiling point between the brothers and Jack, so it was about time for a little self-help. Meanwhile, Cass finds himself in a weird plane of nothing, but he’s not exactly alone.

Veteran character actor Jon Gries is best known for his gut-busting portrayal of Uncle Rico, he of the orange van and dashed dreams of high school football glory, in the 2004 cult gem Napoleon Dynamite. Jon Gries is also recognizable as Roger Linus on Lost, but the actor has been kicking around in Hollywood for decades, ever since he appeared in 1969 at age 11 opposite Charlton Heston in Will Penny, a western directed by his father Tom Gries. Some of Jon’s other films include Monster Squad (1978), Get Shorty (1995), and Taken (2008). Jon is also an accomplished musician, having composed songs for the films Twin Falls Idaho (1999) and The Big Empty (2003). In 2010, after directing several music videos, Jon tried his hand at directing a feature and the result was the acclaimed redneck road comedy Pickin’ & Grinning’.

Humphrey Bogart as indie-film booster? It could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Writer-director Steve Anderson (“The Big Empty,” “Fuck”) has convinced the Humphrey Bogart Estate to help finance his micro-budget noir, “This Last Lonely Place,” according to the WSJ’s MarketWatch. The filmmaker has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $75,000 for his original thriller about three lost souls who find their worlds colliding in an L.A. cab, and not only has the Bogie Estate thrown $10,000 to the cause, it has committed to matching every additional donation. Bogart LLC majority owners Stephen Bogart and his sister Leslie see the investment as a way to support the kinds of films their father most liked. From the story: "The main goal of the Humphrey Bogart Estate is to honor and promote my father's legacy," said Stephen Humphrey Bogart, son of the iconic performer. "My father loved film noir, he...

If you're hoping for another Hot Tub Time Machine, this probably isn't the movie for you, but even though the first trailer for Safety Not Guaranteed only hints at the possibility of actual time travel, the premise still seems somewhat intriguing. When a magazine writer (Jake M. Johnson) spots a classified ad in the local paper looking for a companion to go back in time with someone, he takes a couple of interns (Aubrey Plaza, Karan Soni) to investigate. They meet up with strange and paranoid supermarket clerk named Kenneth (Mark Duplass), who may or may not be insane. The movie comes from the producers of Little Miss Sunshine, although director Colin Trevorrow and writer Derek Connolly are essentially unknowns. The cast is decent (Kristen Bell and Jeff Garlin also appear), but it definitely seems to be more mumblecore than sci-fi. I fear that it could end up resembling the...

When I reviewed "Fallout: New Vegas" before the new year, there were a few things I left out of the piece to avoid spoiling plot points. There hasn’t been a serial horror story in quite some time. Probably John Saul’s Blackstone Chronicles is the most recent. But there is a new kid on the block now, Rick Florino’s Dolor, and this ain’t your mama’s serial horror.
Set in the mysterious town of Dolor, the ten-part series will unfold slowly, introducing the reader to Dolor’s various denizens as well as the town itself. Because from the beginning, with "Lila", the reader knows something has gone terribly wrong in Dolor; and as the ten diaries are read by an FBI agent investigating what happened in Dolor, the reader will also discover what happened and who (or what) might be responsible.
Dread Central recently had an opportunity to chat with the creator of Dolor: Lila (review here) and discovered that Rick Florino is something of an enfant terrible and an author people should take note of.

Clark Gregg has one of those faces; you've seen him in countless TV and film roles, usually looking serious and determined and carrying a gun. He's played enough cops, lawyers, and FBI agents — among them his recurring role as Agent Michael Casper on The West Wing and his appearance as the mysterious operative looking to recruit the title character in Iron Man — to start his own task force. It's a casting trend that amuses the 46-year-old Gregg and his friends. "I did kind of become the go-to guy for authority figures, which is something that everyone who knows me gets a really good laugh out of," he notes. "I guess I have an FBI face, I don't know."At any rate, it's one that is becoming increasingly familiar to audiences, thanks to turns in films like the aforementioned Iron Man and his regular role as the wry ex-husband to Julia Louis-Dreyfus...

- Fuck is a 90 minute long documentary that offers and in-depth examination one of the most popular and offensive words in the English language. It is directed by Steve Anderson, who made an ambitious debut at the 2003 American Film Institute Film Festival with his narrative feature, The Big Empty (starring John Favreau, Daryl Hannah, Joey Lauren Adams, and Kelsey Grammar), which earned him comparisons to the likes of David Lynch and The Cohen Bothers. Prior to his directorial debut, Anderson was a cameraman with a Peabody Award and thousands of hours of broadcast television to his credit. The word fuck is one of the most versatile words in the English language, able to be used as a noun, pronoun, adjective, verb, and virtually every word in a sentence (“Fuck the fucking fuckers”), as illustrated in the film via an animation by Bill Pylmpton. It is also the most expensive word in history,

Busy Hannah earns Sayles' 'Silver' dollars
Daryl Hannah, who worked with helmer John Sayles on his upcoming Casa de los Babys for IFC Films, will reteam with the director on his next project, Silver City. At the same time, the actress has inked with Writers & Artists Agency. Details of Silver City are being closely guarded, but it's described as a political drama/murder mystery that tells the story of a small town in Colorado and the events leading up to a local election. Among those events is the discovery of a man's body in a local lake and the mystery surrounding his death. Hannah will play a wild girl named Wendy. Maggie Renzi is producing from a script by Sayles. Shooting is due to begin next month. In addition to Writers & Artists, Hannah will continue to be repped by manager Chuck Binder. Hannah has been on a roll lately, starring onscreen in the Polish brothers' Northfork for Paramount Classics. She also has four other projects in the can: She next stars in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill, followed by Sayles' Babys, Kenny Golde's The Job and Steve Anderson's The Big Empty.
