From singer to actor to now playing a record executive in a forthcoming biopic, things are coming back full circle--sort of--for Justin Timberlake in a film that should be packed wall-to-wall with some great music. Record executive and producer Neil Bogart is now getting the biopic treatment as Deadline reports that Timberlake will star in and produce "Spinning Gold." Written by Tim Bogart (yes, Neil's son, who also penned "The I Inside" and "Jungle Book: Lost Treasure") the film will tell the story of his father's rags to riches tale as a Jewish kid from Brooklyn who founded Casablanca Records…...

Mark finds a different film altogether from the one he was expecting in Shelter. He blames the adverts...
As a caveat to all that follows, it should be noted by readers who have never heard of Shelter that it's written by Michael Cooney, who brought us Jack Frost (the one that's not the Michael Keaton family flick) and Jack Frost 2: Revenge Of The Mutant Killer Snowman. More recently, though, he's done a line in pot-boilers centred around multiple personality disorder, like Identity and The I Inside, which Shelter continues in a bull-headed manner.
The radiant Julianne Moore plays Cara Jessop, a widowed psychologist whose years of experience with patients have left her cynical and close-minded. As the film starts, we see her declare that a serial killer on death row was of sound mind when he committed his crimes, because multiple personality disorder does not actually exist. The said killer is summarily executed.

LHO's Horwitz to advise VIP
COLOGNE, Germany -- Lew Horwitz, founder and former head of veteran financing group LHO, has signed on as an adviser to leading independent German film fund VIP, VIP co-head Andreas Schmid has said. A 24-year film financing veteran, Horwitz helped source backing for such films as Nine 1/2 Weeks, My Big Fat Greek Wedding and The Devil and Daniel Webster. He also has plenty of experience with the German film fund scene, having worked with various funds on projects spanning FearDotCom, Undisputed and Patty Jenkins' Monster, which was co-financed by VIP. Horwitz will advise VIP on contract negotiations with independent producers and studios as well as future projects. Munich-based VIP, Germany's largest independent film fund, has raised hundreds of millions of dollars in private investor capital to back big-budget features like The Punisher and independent fare like The I Inside. Perabo woos Timberlake in 'Edison' plot
Justin Timberlake has found an onscreen leading lady in Piper Perabo. The actress, who has starred in such features as Cheaper by the Dozen, Lost and Delirious and Coyote Ugly, will play the pop star's love interest in Edison, Timberlake's feature acting debut for Millennium Films/Emmett Furla Films. The $25 million project, written and to be directed by David Burke, starts shooting Saturday in Vancouver. Morgan Freeman, Kevin Spacey and LL Cool J star in the story of a young journalist (Timberlake) who uncovers an elite unit of corrupt cops. Rachel Spector and Katya Virshilaf round out the cast in supporting roles. Emmett/Furla toppers Randall Emmett and George Furla are producing along with John Thompson of Millennium. Executive producers include Millennium toppers Avi Lerner and Danny Dimbort along with the company's Trevor Short and Boaz Davidson. Perabo joining 'Dozen' brood for helmer Levy
Coyote Ugly star Piper Perabo will star opposite Steve Martin in 20th Century Fox's Cheaper by the Dozen for director Shawn Levy and producer Robert Simonds. The project begins shooting Monday. Dozen is a contemporary redo of the 1950 feature comedy about the Gilbreth family (led by Martin and Bonnie Hunt) and its often amusing struggle to keep it all together with a brood of 12 children. Perabo will play the oldest daughter, whose other siblings are played by Tom Welling and Hilary Duff, among others. The original Cheaper is based on a book by Frank B. Gilbreth Jr. and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey; Sam Harper has penned the update. In addition to Simonds, Michael Barnathan and the project's original rights holder, Ben Myron, are producing. Fox vp production Vanessa Morrison is overseeing for division topper Hutch Parker. Perabo, repped by UTA and manager Tina Thor, recently wrapped shooting Dimension Films' The I Inside opposite Ryan Phillippe.
