The grating, helium-pitched sound of barely passable children’s entertainment returns to movie theaters in a familiar and mercifully brisk package. Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip is the as clever-as-its-title fourth (yes, fourth!) installment of this live action and CGI hybrid franchise, in which Dave (a dejected Jason Lee) plays guardian to the trio of singing, farting forest animals.
Alvin, Simon, and Theodore (voiced respectively by Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler and Jesse McCartney – not that you can tell) worry that Dave might replace the ‘Munks after he introduces the boys to his new girlfriend Shira (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) – the kind of open heart surgeon who wears her stethoscope to mini-golf – and her “evil” son Miles (Josh Green). After Alvin finds Dave with an engagement ring, the Chipmunks team up with their new nemesis Miles to travel to Miami and stop their parents from marrying.

Solid ground doesn’t exist in the cinema of Jaume Collet-Serra and Liam Neeson. Theirs is an action cinema of distress where the mental instability of each protagonist blurs the boundaries of seemingly tight spatial parameters. Conflict unfolds violently and manipulatively within manmade (and psychological) bubbles, as vast as the multiple boroughs of New York City or as small as the cramped fuselage of a passenger jet. There is no escape, only the desperate and unflinching pursuit of truth, moral direction, and family safety. The bad guys often win, but the good guys always gain closure.Angular compositions and desperate tracking shots populate 2011’s Unknown, 2014’s Non-Stop, and 2015’s Run All Night. Images overlap, tip, ascend and dive to visualize the world as one big box of quick sand. The camera propels through space like a boomerang, challenging logic and defying gravity with reckless abandon. Every step forward brings us...

Are you ready for some bad news? Seriously, are you sitting down? Because you're going to need to brace yourself. It looks like we're only going to get around two more years of hardcore, badass action films from the incomparable Liam Neeson.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, the star of Run All Night -- as well as the Taken series, Non-Stop, Star Wars, and The Grey -- revealed that he thinks he's only has a few more years of punches to the face left in him.
"Maybe two more years. If God spares me and I’m healthy. But after that, I’ll stop [the action] I think," Neeson said.

★★☆☆☆Competing for the record number of red herrings in a single motion picture, Non-Stop (2013) initially teases ninety minutes of high-concept fun, but quickly gets bogged down in a mire of tired clichés, laboured characters and distracting plot-holes. A huge waste of star Liam Neeson, Jaume Collet-Serra's airborne whodunit is reminiscent of the kind of disposable cinematic fodder so often churned out during the late-nineties. Neeson plays Bill Marks, an ex-cop turned ostracised Us Federal Air Marshal who is first introduced sat in his car, sloshing whisky into a coffee cup and delicately stroking the photo of his late daughter (he may as well be holding up a placard inscribed with 'tortured hero').

To mark the release of Non-stop on 30th June, we’ve been given 3 action movie bundles containing End of Watch, Broken City, Rush, and Unknown to give away.
Global action star Liam Neeson (Taken series, Unknown) is U.S. Air Marshal Bill Marks in Non-Stop, a suspense thriller played out at 40,000 feet in the air. During a transatlantic flight from New York City to London, Marks receives a series of cryptic text messages demanding that he instruct the airline to transfer $150 million into a numbered account. Until he secures the money, a passenger on his flight will be killed every 20 minutes.
Struggling with personal demons, Marks is left drained of any passion for the heroic calling of his profession. He has come to view his important assignment as merely a desk job in the sky. However, another day at the office becomes a high-stakes crisis when shortly into a routine transatlantic flight,...

To celebrate the recent home video release of Non-Stop, we’re giving away two copies of the film on Blu-Ray. The twisty thriller comes to us from director Jaume Collet-Serra and stars Liam Neeson as a Us Air Marshal who becomes caught up in a terrorist plot while aboard a commercial flight over the Atlantic ocean.
Our very own Matt Donato reviewed the film back in February and said the following about it:
Where a film like Taken 2 felt stale and rehashed, Non-Stop challenges typical genre norms by confining fight scenes to tiny bathroom stalls and crowded aisles – a saving grace that creates a more than acceptable mainstream watch.
To enter to win, simply like We Got This Covered on Facebook and re-tweet our contest message (below). A winner will be chosen on June 24th at 11:59pm Est.

With Non-Stop arriving on Blu-ray and DVD this week, Universal Pictures held a rather special press day at Air Hollywood, “the world’s premiere aviation-themed studio.” In attendance was director Jaume Collet-Serra, who was more than happy to talk to journalists about his recent thriller starring Liam Neeson.
For those unfamiliar with the film, it sees Neeson playing an Air Marshal who gets tangled up in a sinister plot while aboard a plane over the Atlantic Ocean that puts the entire flight at risk. It’s a fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat thriller with numerous twists and turns that will no doubt leave you very satisfied, especially if you’re a fan of Neeson’s new action star status.
During our exclusive interview with Serra, we spoke about his fear of flying, what it’s like working with Neeson, how to craft a smart thriller and more!

Check out the brand new poster for Universal Pictures’ A Walk Among The Tombstones.
Based on Lawrence Block’s bestselling series of mystery novels, A Walk Among The Tombstones stars Liam Neeson as Matt Scudder, an ex-nypd cop who now works as an unlicensed private investigator operating just outside the law.
Audiences last saw the Oscar-nominated actor earlier this year as U.S. Air Marshal Bill Marks in Universal’s suspense thriller Non-stop.
In A Walk Among The Tombstones, when Scudder (Neeson) reluctantly agrees to help a heroin trafficker (Dan Stevens) hunt down the men who kidnapped and then brutally murdered his wife, the Pi learns that this is not the first time these men have committed this sort of twisted crime…nor will it be the last.
Blurring the lines between right and wrong, Scudder races to track the deviants through the backstreets of New York City before they kill again.

Non-stop, the Liam Neeson hit from earlier this year, was less an action film than an old-fashioned locked-in-the-box whodunnit. During a transatlantic flight from New York City to London (on the fictional Aqualantic airlines) grizzled, hard-drinking U.S. Air Marshal Bill Marks (Neeson) receives a series of cryptic text messages demanding that he instruct the government to transfer $150 million into an off-shore account. Until he secures the money, a passenger on his flight will be killed every 20 minutes. As Bill struggles to find who the murderer is, the ground crew is convinced that he himself has hijacked the aircraft.
On balance, Non-stop was a lot of fun. It took its absurd premise, which is basically “How do you kill someone on a crowded plane and get away with” and kept it focused, never wasting a moment while pushing its growling hero through obstacle after obstacle. There were a few too...

New Non-Stop movie delivered great action, drama, suspense & more. Universal Pictures released their new action/drama flick, "Non-Stop," into theaters this weekend. I just watched it, and thought it was absolutely terrific. It served up nonstop suspense, action, drama, and a great plotline. It stars: Liam Neeson, Julianne Moore, Nate Parker, Michelle Dockery, and Scoot McNairy. In the new flick, U.S. Air Marshal Bill Marks (Liam Neeson), hopped on a transatlantic flight from New York City to London. However, shortly after he boards his flight, he starts receiving disturbing text messages from a passenger who is onboard the 150 person flight. The messages demanded that he instruct the government to transfer $150 million into an off-shore account. Until he secures the money, a passenger on his flight would be killed every 20 minutes. This caused Bill to eventually get the whole passenger crew involved in the action in an effort to locate the culprit as people did,...

You’d think, at a certain point, people would stop messing with Liam Neeson. Kidnap his daughter? He will kill you all. Mess with his memory? He will kill you all. Abduct his wife? He will kill you all. Glue his parents into place? He will ki-well he won’t be happy about it anyway. But no, the bad guys refuse to catch a clue, and now the fools are at it again. Bill Marks (Neeson) is an Irish-born U.S. Air Marshal having a really bad day. He’s drinking heavily, arguing with his boss, and heading out on a trans-Atlantic flight to London. Oh, and he hates to fly. Things worsen when an anonymous text hits his phone threatening to kill someone on-board the plane unless $150 million is wired into a specified account. Ever the professional, Marks sets out to find the culprit by any means necessary. Non-Stop is closer to Taken than it is...

With Non-Stop, Liam Neeson continues his “Old-Grizzled Man Against the World” phase—a neo-Charles Bronson personality that isn’t afraid to kick ass and take names. Largely typecast for weighty biopics early on in his career with a slight Phantom Menace stopover dotted right in the middle, it is most obviously the out-of-nowhere 2008 megahit Taken that has largely defined the timbre of his recent output (save for a few outliers like the ridiculously good Lego Movie). Who could have thought Oskar Schindler could be such a badass?
All kidding aside, Neeson has managed to whittle his usually slender Irish visage and dulcet brogue into a brawny sexagenarian persona battered by body and mind alike through thrillers like The Grey or Unknown (also directed by Non-Stop helmer Jaume Collet-Serra) quite nicely. It’s a mixture of Neeson’s preternatural ability to both make you sympathize with him via his acting...

For a trillion people — in markets major, ancillary, and very possibly interplanetary — the equation is simple: big, doleful Hibernian Liam Neeson + big gun = excellent mayhem. His new thriller, Non-Stop, is a hijack picture with a mystery villain: Someone onboard keeps texting Air Marshal Neeson a threat: A person will die every 20 minutes if $150 million is not deposited into a numbered account. Oddly, when Neeson starts making noises to the pilots and his on-the-phone superior (Shea Whigham), everyone thinks he’s the hijacker. And who knows? He might be. He’s unstable enough. He’s a boozer. Maybe he’s texting himself the way Edward Norton kept beating himself up in Fight Club. The movie has so many red herrings, it’s amazing the theater doesn’t smell like a fish store.Jittery Julianne Moore wants a window seat and trades with computer programmer Nate Parker — which puts her next to...

Ever since The Lego Movie became a mega hit, the popular children’s toy has become all the rage again. One thing that we’ve seen happening quite a lot lately is live-action films being re-created with Lego. There have been several clever videos making their way onto the internet showcasing this new fad and the most recent one happens to be a trailer for Non-Stop.
Starring Liam Neeson (who also had a role in The Lego Movie), the upcoming thriller from Universal hits theatres this Friday and looks to offer up a fresh take on a familiar story by placing the events in a single setting: aboard an international flight from New York to London. Neeson stars as U.S. Air Marshal Bill Marks, who finds himself as the prime suspect in a terrorist plot when people start dying one by one on the plane that he’s supposed to be watching over.

Set on an airplane that’s flying from New York to London, the film sees Neeson as a U.S. Air Marshal who becomes entangled in a terrorist conspiracy and ultimately, finds himself as the prime suspect.
While most moviegoers might be tired of seeing the 61 year-old actor barking orders, smashing people’s heads in and just being a general badass, Non-Stop is not just another Taken clone. Instead, it’s a clever “Who done it?” story that makes great use of its single setting and excellent supporting cast (Julianne Moore, Lupita Nyong’o, Scoot McNairy and Michelle Dockery, among others). It might not be the most original and well-executed thriller out there, but I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t have a ton of fun while watching.

Liam Neeson has battled terrorists on land (Taken), he’s fought aliens at sea (Battleship) and now, the actor can say that he’s part of the action genre Mile High Club thanks to his latest film, Non-Stop. Directed by frequent Joel Silver collaborator, Jaume Collet-Serra (Orphan/Unknown), we once again watch Liam become entangled in some thrilling bit of drama involving an airplane, a drinking problem, and a hidden bomb – presenting plenty of ass-kicking opportunities along the way. Simple set up, similar action, and more serious faces from Liam Neeson (Exhibit A above), but at least the single-setting situation presented by an airplane in flight creates a fresh bit of fun for audiences to wrap their minds around. Where a film like Taken 2 felt stale and rehashed, Non-Stop challenges typical genre norms by confining fight scenes to tiny bathroom stalls and crowded aisles – a saving grace that creates...

Whether he’s fighting on land, in the air, or at sea, people just can’t seem to get enough Liam Neeson – or that’s what studios are hoping, at least. Ever since his role in Taken, Liam has seen his skyrocketing action hero stock grant him numerous ass-kicking roles, most recently in the upcoming airplane thriller Non-Stop.
Guiding Mr. Neeson on yet another deadly adventure is director Jaume Collet-Serra, a frequent collaborator with producer Joel Silver. You know Jaume from films like House of Wax, Orphan and Unknown, but now he’s taking to the skies to conquer his fear of flying once and for all – by trying to kill passengers and blow up a plane.
While Jaume was in New York City a few weekends ago promoting his new film, I had the pleasure of sitting down and talking Non-Stop with him in an exclusive interview. Covering a multitude of topics,...

We've got a slick new fan-made trailer which has been Lego-ised with "The Lego Movie" mania for Universal Pictures' "Non-Stop." Julianne Moore co-stars in the suspense thriller which hits theaters on February 28th, 2014. The film reunites Neeson with Jaume Collet-Serra, the director of "Unknown" as well as producer Joel Silver. "Non-Stop" is played out at 40,000 feet in the air. During a transatlantic flight from New York City to London, U.S. Air Marshal Bill Marks (Neeson) receives a series of cryptic text messages demanding that he instruct the airline to transfer $150 million into an off-shore account. As the domestic box office can easily reflect, we're in a particularly Lego-crazy period, with everyone going gaga for "The Lego Movie" (and its slew of merchandising tie-ins). One of the stars of "The Lego Movie," Liam Neeson, has a new thriller coming out next week called "Non-Stop," and a team of creative geniuses (there's really no other word for them) has decided to do a Lego makeover of the "Non-Stop" trailer. It's ridiculously delightful.
All of the familiar beats from the trailer, from Neeson's Air Marshal entering a plane and being accused of wanting to hijack the aircraft, lots of craziness, some subtle banter with a fellow passenger played by Julianne Moore, and some zero gravity fisticuffs, but, you know, rendered in colorful building blocks. In short: it's a hoot.
The actual flesh-and-blood "Non-Stop," which also stars Nate Parker, Scoot McNairy, Corey Stoll and Lupita Nyong'o, is out next week.

On February 28th, have a safe flight.
Struggling with his personal demons has drained Marks of any passion for the heroic calling of his profession. He has come to view his important assignment as merely a desk job in the sky. However, another day at the office becomes a high-stakes crisis when shortly into a routine transatlantic flight, Marks’ world is upended.

Liam Neeson is really looking to take his action star status, and… well, actually become an action star, I guess. After the success of the Taken films, he apparently isn’t content to just sit around and age gracefully. Of course, it could have something to do with the fact that he was really good in the first Taken film (the second was mediocre). Whatever the exact reason behind the existence of Non-Stop, and Neeson’s part in it, you are in store for a real treat that includes all the tension you could hope to muster by having curious events take place on a plane. Not that we haven’t had a few spins on this track already, but we’ve never had Neeson and an absolute gaggle of feints within feints in play before.
