Amid reports that Yellowstone has been canceled, fans are curious about the off-screen drama involving the show’s biggest star.

In case you weren’t aware, this appears to be a rough time in Kevin Costner’s personal life.

Last year, he was served with divorce papers by Christine Baumgartner, his wife of 18 years.

Shortly thereafter, it was confirmed that the veteran star was going through a split in his professional life, as well.

In May of 2023, Paramount announced that Yellowstone would end its five-year run.

Now, with the show’s (allegedly) final slate of episodes less than a week away, fans have a lot of questions.

Is the series still coming to an end, as planned? Are the reports of Costner’s diva-like behavior accurate?...

Variety exclusively reports, “The third film in the cult Orphan horror franchise has been officially green lit, with Isabelle Fuhrman — recently seen in Kevin Costner’s Horizon — returning to play her iconic role of Esther and Orphan: First Kill’s writer David Coggeshall (“The Family Plan”) and director William Brent Bell (“The Boy” franchise) also back behind the camera.”

Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 composer John Debney found a kindred spirit in actor-filmmaker Kevin Costner when the two met making Hatfields & McCoys over a decade ago, both for their shared love of the Western genre and their proud status as native Angelenos.

Much of the story of Yellowstone over the last 18 months has concerned what’s not happening on screen as much as what’s on it. After the show screened the first half of season five, coming to an end in January 2023, there’s been a lot of waiting. Waiting for it to come back, and waiting to see if Kevin Costner would reprise the lead role of John Dutton.

Well, the show’s back from 10th November 2024, and as you probably know, it’s going to be Kevin Costner-less. Costner is pursuing his Horizon series of movies, amongst other projects, and for whatever reason, Yellowstone schedules didn’t line up.

Paramount thus has faced an interesting challenge here as to how to sell the programme now that its lead actor has gone.

Ever since 2018, Kevin Costner’s Yellowstone took the world by storm. Set against the rugged backdrop of Montana, the show centered around the Dutton family, led by patriarch John Dutton, played by the 69-year-old star. The show blended elements of family drama, political intrigue, and the harsh realities of the American West, which brought it a huge fan following. Kevin Costner has revealed his first post Horizon film project, a thriller entitled Headhunters, Costner will star, co-write and produce.

Nobody can accuse Kevin Costner of being lazy. He has financed, produced, co-written, directed and co–starred in Horizon: An American Saga, which was conceived as a four film series, each one pushing the three hour mark.

The second instalment was pulled from the release schedule in August before finally premiering at the Venice Film Festival in September, but nevertheless Costner is currently pressing ahead with chapters three and four, with the plan being to shoot them back to back to save on production costs. Costner will play a washed-up American expat with a mysterious past who winds up living in Bali, Indonesia. He gathers a group of surfers led by a local photographer to find the perfect wave at an uncharted island — which winds up being the domicile of an ancient tribe of headhunters who are protecting their land at all costs.

Station Eleven star Daniel Zovatto is also starring in Headhunters. He previously worked with Steindorff, who executive produced that HBO limited series.

According to Deadline, the film didn’t even crack $40 million this weekend, with them estimating a horrible $39 million finish. That’s over $20 million less than we expected in our box office predictions, which is crazy as just a few months ago, no one would have thought it conceivable that the film would open to anything less than $90 or so million. The $39 million opening is even worse than the $55 million opening posted by The Flash, and The Marvels, which opened with $46 million. Both openings were considered disastrous, and Joker: Folie à Deux looks like it might not even cross $100 million domestically.
