Remember having "MTV" and growing up on it and watching it in the late 80's and early 90's being in school, it was always a treat being off on Saturday nights the weekends staying up and watching this late feast of hard rock and heavy metal music videos! The program was usually always hosted by the cool and long haired Riki Rachtman the show rocked and pounded on as it was the one and only "Headbangers Ball". The show aired music videos from the popular hair bands of the day like Guns and Roses, Metallic, Kiss, Poison, Skid Row, Megadeath, A. C. D. C. ,Motley Crew, Firehouse, and Warrant! Wow need I say more as that takes one back to the good old days of 80's and 90's metal! Plus a weekly video countdown and interviews with band leaders was often shown. One of "MTV's" all time best programs!
Wow, great memories! Headbanger's Ball was the late night showcase for hard rock and heavy metal videos on Mtv. Very similar to "Alternative Nation" and "120 minutes", with a VJ or two (mostly, it was Riki Rachtman) presenting videos, goofing around and talking with various musicians.
Some people are surprised by the fact that Mtv used to show something other than N'SYNC videos and garbage.
