In 1986, Turner Broadcasting acquired the rights to 85 episodes of Gatchaman (episodes 1-80, 82-85, and 87) and commissioned a brand-new English-language dub of the series under the name "G-Force." This run of episodes included fourteen episodes (Gatchaman (1972) episodes 13, 19, 20, 28, 29, 34, 38, 50, 56, 64, 66, 78, and 85) that were not dubbed by Sandy Frank Productions as part of the series Battle of the Planets (1978).
Galactor's (Zoltar in Battle of the Planets (1978)) status as a hermaphrodite was never acknowledged in "G-Force" because Turner Broadcasting opted not to dub the episodes relating to this plot development. The story line involving Dirk Daring (Jô Asakura from Gatchaman (1972) and Jason from Battle of the Planets (1978)) suffering from terminal brain damage is left intact, but since Gatchaman episodes 102-105 were not dubbed, this plot development does not receive an ending. One of the episodes that was skipped in both Battle of the Planets and G-Force, was episode 81, which features the revelation that the parents of Dirk Daring were killed by Galactor.
