Whilst being interviewed in 2012, one of the game's top programmers, Sal DiVita, stated that there was to be a hidden wrestler, Adam Bomb. However, he was never finished and Sal said there was no point in trying to unlock him, as it was beta programming that ended up being scrapped. This does mean the character's sprites are somewhere in the game's programming, but to this day, no one has discovered them.
Bam Bam Bigelow appeared at the launch of this game to help promote it. Bret Hart also filmed a small video that was available at launch, giving tips on gameplay.
The game started development in 1994. This explains why some of the most popular 1995 WWF Superstars like Diesel and Hunter Hearst Helmsley (Triple H) were not included, when the game was released.
Some people accused this game of trying to be too much like Mortal Kombat (1992). However, both games are developed by the same company, Midway/Acclaim.
Bret Hart is shown playing this game with one of his kids in the documentary Hitman Hart: Wrestling with Shadows (1998).
