One of the most notable aspects of this documentary is that it pictures the raptor dinosaurs with feathers, even though their distribution has been proven incorrect since the show's creation. They are also more hairlike than feather-like, but this has its justification in that the available CGI technology at the time couldn't render realistic looking feathers.
Some of the dinosaur noises, especially the raptor roars, were designed to sound like those used in Jurassic Park (1993).
The dinosaur referred to as Syntarsus was, since this program had been made, renamed Megapnosaurus, since its former name had been already taken by a kind of beetle. Megapnosaurus has also been considered a dubious name for Coelophysis.
The Rutiodon sound effects are those of modern crocodiles. Desmatosuchus is voiced by a warthog or pig. Triceratops was given the sounds of an Elephant. Zuniceratops is also voiced by an Elephant, but there is also a couple of lion or tiger roars. These can be heard when the two males are locked in battle.
As revealed in August 2023, the program was originally going to feature Albertosaurus, a close relative of Tyrannosaurus that lived millions of years earlier. The animal was designed but ultimately got cut, presumably because it bore too much resemblance to the juvenile Tyrannosaurus.
