Tonight’s Reasonable Doubt on Investigation Discovery looks into whether David Johnson, who was convicted of murdering a man at a New Year’s Eve party in 2008 in Wright City, Missouri, is actually innocent. The episode, named Guilt by Association, captures Johnson’s family members insisting the convict was only a naïve teenager who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Johnson is said to have gone to the party with his brother Matthew and a third individual, a man named Matthew Marshall. A friend had apparently called them saying she didn’t like the way she was being treated at the party,...read more...

Don’t feel insecure if you find yourself intermittently hitting the “pause” button to relieve the sense of nameless dread that creeps in during any given episode of The Night Of.
With only one episode left of HBO’s methodical, meticulous summer crime thriller, I find I’m often overcome by the urge to take a break and refill my wine glass or breathe into a paper bag or just gently rock back and forth, my hands around my knees, chanting the word “Mommy.”

Turner’s upfront next week will feature a familiar face. The Closer star Kyra Sedgwick is returning to TNT‘s lineup, this time as a producer. The cable network has picked up to series pilot Proof, a supernatural medical drama executive produced by Sedgwick in her TV series producing debut. Also ordered to series is the 1960s cop drama Public Morals, written, directed by and starring Ed Burns, which counts Steven Spielberg among its executive producers. Both projects, which had been clear frontrunners, have received 10-episode orders for 2015 debut. Of TNT’s other drama pilots, there is discussion about possibly retooling Agent X starring Sharon Stone, while Guilt By Association is not going forward. Written by Rob Bragin, Proof stars Jennifer Beals as a skeptical, hard science, female surgeon who’s struggled with family issues including a tragic death. She is persuaded to investigate cases of reincarnation, out-of-body experiences, hauntings...

Timbaland will write and produce music for Empire, the hip-hop music drama from Lee Daniels and Danny Strong.
There seems to be plenty of strong reactions to last night‘s How I Met Your Mother, fueling a certain fan theory about how the series ends. I’m still rooting for the show ending in divorce, that’s the only way I can justify the way they’ve made Ted such a jerk this season.
Virginia Madsen has joined the cast of NBC’s revised Babylon Fields pilot. Madsen’s career choices have been oddly hit-and-miss (anyone remember Scoundrels?) I’m hoping this is one of her better shows.
TBS has ordered a pilot of Clippers, a comedy from Will & Grace creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick. The series follows a group who participated in different social circles in high school but now work together in a barber shop.

A little Carrie Mathison, a little Olivia Pope, a touch of Rust Cohle: We have big, beautiful hopes for Julia Stiles in the TNT drama pilot Guilt by Association. Based on a book by former O.J. Simpson prosecutor Marcia Clark, the show will feature Stiles as Rachel Knight, a "unorthodox and impulsive" deputy district attorney living in Los Angeles who doesn't play by the rules. Hmm ... we're trying to imagine a crime drama lead that does play by the rules. Nope, we can only picture Julia Stiles kicking in a boardroom door and hitting someone across the face with the California Penal Code.

Julia Stiles (the Bourne movie franchise) has been tapped for the lead in TNT‘s drama pilot Guilt By Association, from former prosecutor Marcia Clark, on whose book the project is based, and Dee Johnson. The project centers on Rachel Knight (Stiles), a talented, unorthodox and impulsive Deputy Da in the La County District Attorney’s office who sometimes operates outside the law in order to uphold it. Rachel relies on her cohorts — fashionable prosecutor Toni Lacollette (Rose Rollins) and tough-as-nails Detective Bailey Keller (Elisabeth Röhm) — for all things professional and personal. Driven by compassion but haunted by guilt, Rachel tackles the Special Trials Unit’s most difficult cases and does so with humor, an edge, and an “evidence is for pussies” attitude. When the suspicious death of a close colleague throws her own judgment into question, Rachel must rely on her connections and instincts to solve the case and clear her friend’s name.

The lead of TNT‘s drama pilot Guilt By Association is vacant again as Neve Campbell has pulled out. TNT already made most of its notable programming decisions -- renewing "Dallas" and "Boston's Finest," cancelling "Southland" and "Monday Mornings" and ordering "The Last Ship" and "Legends" -- ahead of the upfronts.
But both TNT and TBS unveiled a laundry list of shows in development that may or may not ever see the light of day as pilots, let alone series.
Among those titles at TNT:

A film 'replete with the visual and linguistic trappings of imprisonment' is let down by its creaky special effects

Ok, we'll admit it: Women can be catty. And this can prove an obstacle for genetically blessed starlets trying to garner a loyal female following — unless you're Rachel McAdams, that is.
In this murky era of botched Botox and Twitter wars, McAdams -- now starring in Woody Allen's "Midnight in Paris" -- is one of Hollywood's few leading ladies whose appeal remains crystal clear. Men want to date her. Ladies want to be her. And everyone wants to know her.
So what makes this 31-year-old star shine so brightly? Our top nine reasons the ladies love Rachel McAdams:
1. She's Classy
A little class goes a long way baby, and we're hard-pressed to think of any young actress who can hold a candle to McAdams in this regard. Think about it: Can you recall a single picture you've seen or interview you've read in which she looks or sounds anything less than completely poised?...
