There were two different title sequences for the programme. The first two series had a 50 second animated sequence showing comedians such as Laurel and Hardy and the Marx Brothers, whereas the third series began with a "cold open" with Bob telling jokes to the audience, before having a brief title sequence and logo.
Although the series was titled "The Bob Monkhouse Show" in TV listings, it was only ever named "Bob Monkhouse" on screen.
The lengths of all three series were different. The first series was a 55 minute programme, whereas the second dropped to a 50 minute slot. The biggest change was the third series, which saw the episodes reduced to 40 minutes.
Originally screened on BBC2, each of the three series received a repeat run on BBC1 within six months of their first broadcast. However, the episode running order of each series was rearranged for all of the repeat runs.
The final two episodes of the programme were created to launch a repeat run of the third series on BBC1. Unlike all the other episodes which had aired first on BBC2, they received their premiere and sole broadcast on the main BBC channel.
