Alien Trilogy (1996)

Trivia

Alien Trilogy

Edit
Many of the sound effects in the game come from Aliens (1986), such as the firing of weapons, automatic doors and the motion tracker. The Alien Warriors' screeches and breathing come from the Alien Queen.
The game's look is based on the first three Alien movies. The prologue and first episode (The Colony) heavily reference Aliens (1986) and the Hadley's Hope colony on LV-426 in it. Episode two (The Detention Center) is modeled on the prison facility from Alien³ (1992) (even though in that movie, that prison was situated on a totally different planet, Fiorina 161). The final episode (The Boneship) is based on the derelict ship from Alien (1979).
There are six different death animations: Ripley succumbing to her wounds; Ripley dying from gunfire; Ripley collapsing after a facehugger grabs her face; Ripley killed by a Warrior Alien; Ripley killed by a Dog Alien; and Ripley being impaled by the Queen's tail.
Enemies are animated through sprites, which are essentially rapidly changing 2D animations that create the illusion of a moving 3D character. This is best seen in defeated enemies; when moving around their corpses, it is impossible to see any other side of them except the front (the corpses will 'magically' turn around). Whenever enemies are injured by the player, they enter a 'hit animation' that makes them invulnerable to attacks, until they get out of that animation again.
