No word yet from NBC whether Timeless is going to get a third season, but ratings results from last night’s cliffhanger-extreme Season 2 finale do not bode for the time-travel drama starring Matt Lanter, Abigail Spencer and Malcolm Barrett.
Having come off a cancellation and then a fan-generated renewal last year, Timeless went large Sunday with the two-hour ending to its 10-episode Season 2. That worked week-to-week, at least, but not year-to-year. While up 20% among adults 18-49 over its one-hour May 6 “The Day Reagan Was Shot” episode, and the best the series created by Eric Kripke and Shawn Ryan has done since mid-March, Timeless took a 33% tumble from its Season 1 finale of February 20, 2017,
As NBC saw a 14-minute delay in the start of its East Coast primetime Sunday due to golf overrun, the 9-111 Pm scheduled double dose of Timeless might have been an overreach, as the Season 1 fianle was only an hour.

Showtime announced today that Richard Dreyfuss (Mr. Holland’s Opus) will guest star in at least four episodes of Weeds, which returns Aug. 16. Dreyfuss will play an unexpected character from Nancy Botwin’s (Mary-Louise Parker) past. The role marks a reunion of sorts for Dreyfuss and Showtime: He last appeared as Alexander Haig in the pay network’s The Day Reagan Was Shot.
In 2001, Dreyfuss starred in the CBS drama The Education of Max Bickford. Six years later, he appeared in the Sci-Fi original miniseries Tin Man.

Chicago – Actor Richard Dreyfuss is comfortable. This was on display as he was eating ice cream while talking about his career and life, just before an appearance at the brand new Hollywood Palms Cinema in Naperville, Ill.
Dreyfuss made a huge splash in the 1970s starring in the triptych of classic films: “American Graffiti,” “Jaws,” and “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.” He won his Best Actor Oscar – the youngest actor in Academy Award history to do so at the time – playing Elliott Garfield in the comedy, “The Goodbye Girl.”

- Lionsgate Films jumped at the opportunity to get the distribution rights to Oliver Stone new presidential drama/biopic W., set for release in October - a proper time for the nation to reflect on the past eight (either contentious and frustrating or appropriate and rational, depending where on the political spectrum one lies) years of Bush influence. While still scouting for a juggernaut to play our rigid and expressionless veep Dick Cheney, Stone cast Josh Brolin ("No Country for Old Men") as Bush and Elizabeth Banks as sweet and innocent gal-next door Laura Bush, née Welch. With "W", Stone completes an unofficial presidential trilogy, with "JFK" in 1991 and "Nixon" in 1995 (maybe even a foursome with 2001's TV feat "The Day Reagan Was Shot"). Stone is no stranger to controversy and greets it like an old friend. "Platoon", "Wall Street", "Born on the Fourth of July", "The Doors"; Stone never

No landslide for 'Reagans'
ANAHEIM -- Despite a flood of hype surrounding its controversial movie The Reagans, Showtime saw a small stream of viewers for its Sunday premiere. Sold by CBS to Showtime last month amid criticism of its depiction of the Reagans, the three-hour movie drew just 1.2 million total viewers, according to sources; Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, a theatrical release that aired in the same slot the previous year, drew 500,000 viewers in comparison. In Showtime homes, Reagans registered a 3.7 household rating/5 share. Showtime, which traditionally declines to release ratings numbers, would not confirm these figures. The premium channel did, however, indicate that Reagans more than doubled its primetime average and was its highest-rated original film in two years. Reagans tied another Reagan-themed movie, The Day Reagan Was Shot, which aired in December 2001.
