The Unpopular Opinion is an ongoing column featuring different takes on films that either the writer Hated, but that the majority of film fans Loved, or that the writer Loved, but that most others Loathed. We’re hoping this column will promote constructive and geek fueled discussion. Enjoy!
The first time I watched the cult classic action film The Boondock Saints, I was seventeen and immediately fell in with the 93% fresh rating from audience members on Rotten Tomatoes. A certified rotten, 17% rating from critics? Psh, I didn’t care.
Years later, I now know the truth. This is a terrible movie. It’s beyond even laughably bad and into the realm of just plain outright bad. As I re-watched it for this column, I couldn’t help but keep saying things like “this doesn’t make sense. This – this, it – this movie doesn’t make any sense! What’s going on?...

Photo: ‘Big Shot’/Disney+ In the race to put out new original content from each of the major streaming players: Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, et cetera, Disney Plus is showing that the best way to get fans invested in new stories is through their heart. Their heart, and of course, basketball. Not since ‘High School Musical,’ and for the real Disney Channel Original Movie (Dcom) fans, ‘The Luck of the Irish’ and ‘Half Court Miracle,’ has Disney given us a tale revolving around the sport. Although, it is not since 2002, when ‘Double Teamed’ was released on Disney Channel, that the studio has created and developed a female-led basketball story. On Friday, April 16, 2021, Disney Plus dropped the pilot episode of its newest original series, ‘Big Shot.’ Related article: The Complete List of 2021 Oscar Nominations – Celebrations, Surprises & Snubs | The Show Must Go On Related article: April Movies Release Schedule: The Most Accurate...

The truth is out there: Zombies 3 is officially coming to Disney Channel, with production slated to begin this spring in Toronto.
Additional casting will be announced at a later date, but TVLine can confirm that franchise stars Meg Donnelly and Milo Manheim are set to return as Addison and Zed. We can also confirm that the little tease at the end of Zombies 2 meant exactly what you thought — aliens are coming to Seabrook.

St. Patrick’s Day celebrations are likely to look a lot different this year. Even with loosened restrictions on movie theaters, indoor dining, and other places frequented before the pandemic, bars have yet to return to their full glory, and if you’re the type to stay home, a movie marathon is a low-key way to spend the holiday.
To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, we rounded up a collection of films that are streaming now on Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max. If you’re not already signed up with one (or more) of these streaming platforms, they all offer subscriptions at affordable prices. For example, Disney+ and Hulu have...

Wondering which Disney Channel Original Movies have made it onto the Disney+ platform? We've got you covered.
Zoom, zoom, zoom. Make my heart go boom boom. Disney+ is here.
Much of the focus around the launch of Disney's new streaming service platform has been on its flashiest of assets—your Star Wars and your Marvel movies and TV shows. But Disney is a massive media conglomerate with more assets in one of its mouse ears than most media companies have in their whole being. Yes, we're talking about Disney Channel Original Movies (affectionately known as Dcom).
You've got your Zenon (Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century, Zenon: The Zequel, and Zenon: Z3). You've got your High School Musical (the original, High School Musical 2, and Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure). You've got your Luck of the Irish. If you are an older millennial or anyone who enjoys earnest,...

It's hard to believe that it's been nearly 17 years since Disney Channel first premiered The Luck of the Irish. When the film was first released, it charmed audiences with the story of a basketball player named Kyle Johnson who discovers that he is part leprechaun. Talk about family secrets! From there, Kyle goes on a wild journey, discovering more about his heritage and his family, while trying to figure out who stole his grandfather's gold coin. It's no wonder this film is now deemed to be a Disney Channel classic—up there with the likes of Cadet Kelly and Smart House. And what would St. Patrick's Day be if Disney did not show the movie? So we...

The luck of the Irish was not with Liza in Younger‘s fourth season finale.
RelatedYounger Renewed for Season 5
Wednesday’s episode sent Liza and Maggie to Ireland — per Josh’s request, because who wouldn’t invite the person you almost proposed to months ago to your wedding? — only to discover that Claire was looking at the nuptials as more of a green card opportunity than anything else. Claire also knows Liza’s secret (thanks, Josh!), which she used as leverage for Liza to help convince the feds that the marriage was legitimate.
And nothing was going to stop...

The luck of the Irish doesn't seem to be on Tamra Judge and Kelly Dodd's side. The Real Housewives of Orange County hits Ireland and brings the drama—you can take the ladies out of the Oc, but you can't take the Oc out of the ladies. In the exclusive clip from "Shamrocks and Shockwaves" (such an appropriate titled) below, the ladies—Kelly, Tamra, Vicki Gunvalson, Heather Dubrow, Shannon Beador, Meghan King Edmonds—take on some shopping…and then everything turns mighty sour after Shannon relays some of Kelly's thoughts to Tamra. "The words that come out of this woman mouth, I can't comprehend how her mind is working," Shannon says about Kelly. Kelly...

Disney Channel original movies are a great part of our cultural heritage. There was a film for every youthful taste. For those who loved music, there was Camp Rock. If magic was your thing, then Halloweentown or Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie it was. Into aggressive inline skating? Brink all the way. And for movie fans that enjoyed watching hot jocks turn into leprechauns, there was nothing better than the entertainment institution The Luck of the Irish. How this film was robbed of any sort of awards accomplishment, we'll never know, but in the meantime we'll stick to celebrating its brilliance on our own. And there's no better time to take a walk down the...

The luck of the Irish! Some of your favorite Hollywood stars are already getting the party started for St. Patrick’s Day on this lovely Tuesday. The festive holiday is all about rocking green, so Bella Thorne took to Instagram to share a sexy snapshot in her favorite green "Kiss me, I’m Irish" crop top. Paris Hilton also got in on the fun, posting a series of photos wearing a green sequin top hat with a striped top. Neil Patrick Harris celebrated the big day by capturing his adorable twins, Harper and Gideon, decked out in their own green garb. "Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Look out for leprechauns!," he captioned the cute candid, which shows his kids wearing giant glasses and hats. Meanwhile, the Kardashians celebrated St. Patty's day -- and brother Robert Kardashian's 28th birthday -- with tons of throwback pics. Check out the gallery above to see more holiday selfies,...

Ryan Merriman is now a married man. The Pretty Little Liars actor wed fiancée Kristen McMullen on Sept. 6 in an intimate ceremony held on the East coast, a source tells E! News. The 31-year-old—who played Melissa Hastings' husband Ian Thomas on the ABC series until 2012, and is also known for his roles in Final Destination 3 and The Luck of the Irish—proposed to his ladylove in New Zealand back in April 2013. "There is this awesome thing called Sky City, with a Stratosphere tower, and they light off about $300,000 worth of fireworks at midnight," he told Us Weekly at the time. "As soon as I gave her a kiss and proposed, the fireworks started going off. It was kind of like a...

Beginning in 1997, the Disney Channel began its Disney Channel Original Movies (DCOMs). Though they're still popular among kids, it was the children and teens of the late ’90s/early 2000s that got to witness the golden age of one of the best kinds of TV movies: “Brink!,” “Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century,” “Smart House,” “Halloweentown,” and “The Luck of the Irish” are among just some Dcom classics. And while just hearing titles of Disney Channel Original movies brings a wave of nostalgia for millenials, many of them bring something else: familiar faces. Some of today's A-list actors have been in these Disney Channel TV movies. Let's not forget we were first introduced to “Neighbors” star Zac Efron in the Disney original, “High School Musical!” Click Here To View The Slideshow.

If we had to sum up this week's edition of Must-See TV in two words, we'd go for 'guilty pleasures' - what with it containing reality show beasts Celebrity Big Brother and The X Factor, as well as the ever-ridiculous Celebrity Juice.
But we don't have to use two words. We can use many - we make the rules. Read on for our full rundown of the week's top telly here...
Celebrity Big Brother: Wednesday (August 28) at 9pm on Channel 5
We've got high hopes that this Celebrity Big Brother, with its delightful mix of housemates who are camp, crude, controversial and Courtney Stodden. We're just four days in and are already bloomin' hooked!
But alas, it's already time to bid farewell to one sorry sleb in the first live eviction of the series on Wednesday. The delightful Emma Willis will be on hand to debrief the unlucky loser, who,...

"Got a light for old Leprechaun's pipe?"
"Scream as you may, scream as you might, if you try to escape ... you'll be dead on this night!"
"If you're gonna linger, I'll give you the finger!"
Can't get enough, can you? It makes sense that the greatest horror franchise in the world would also have the most quotable protagonist of all time (that's right, we said "protagonist" — who you gonna root for instead, Jennifer Aniston?). The luck of the Irish? More like the wit of the Irish!
The Leprechaun is always quick with a smart quip and a clever rhyme, making him also perhaps the chattiest slasher-killer ever — really, he makes the pun-loving Freddy Krueger of the later installments of the "Nightmare on Elm Street" series seem like he took a vow of silence.
Below you'll find the Leprechaun's best quotes, which, yes, took three compilations. Enjoy, ye lads and lassies.

Ryan Reynolds, the sexy star of The Green Lantern and a former People magazine Sexiest Man Alive, talked a bit about his Irish roots to The Irish Times while on the promo trail for his film. Reynolds, a Canadian cutie for sure, told the paper that he’s Irish and has visited parts the country with his brother. “Yes. I’ve been to Dublin and Galway. My brother and I just toured around there for a while. We have relatives there, whom we completely avoided,” he says, joking about the last part. It’s not the first time Reynolds, who’s in the process of divorcing another star, Scarlett Johansson, has spoken about his Irish background. While promoting his hit film The Proposal with Sandra Bullock a couple of years back, he told Movies.ie that with “brothers named Terry and Patrick, I’m pretty damn Irish!” The luck of the Irish...

I happened to catch the High School Musical spin-off Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure while watching a friend’s kid sister last weekend, and I have to say, once and for all, that I’m totally and completely over Disney Channel Original Movies… and it’s about time. Even toward the end of what I consider the Golden Era of Disney Originals — starting in 1999 with Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century and coming to a screeching halt in 2003 with The Even Stevens Movie — I was probably a little too old to be watching them. I remember joking about the latest cheesy Domp (Disney Original Motion Picture…...

Chicago – The third week of the 13th Annual EU Film Festival at the Siskel Film Center has arrived, and we’re back to give you an idea of what to expect in the second half of arguably the best fest in the Windy City. We profile several of this week’s hottest tickets, including an anticipated screening hosted by Chicago’s own Jonathan Rosenbaum.
The first half of EU 2010 (which you can read about here and here) produced some memorable films including Sweden’s taut thriller “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” Italy’s sumptuous romance “I Am Love,” and France’s exhilaratingly off-kilter re-telling of “Bluebeard.” As good as all of those films were, the festival has generally been offering stronger programming each week, and this is the best one yet. Out of the next four highlights, there are at least two that absolutely should not be missed.
