Is a crazy review of the hard life of the poor people in Distrito Federal, or Capital City in Mexico en the 50's.
What happen when a simple, common, even ignorant man who is a simple day to day worker by himself, can be the "King" of all the nation, with all the advantages that the title includes, this person is an mediocre drinker whose not know nothing about responsibilities.
But, how? why? what is the trick?
This movie is a nice, naive portrait of a "dream come true" for a humble longshoreman, that become the "King" of Mexico, but how is it possible? We see Pablo tries to eat "tacos" and dance properly in an elegant place, visit the Opera, Los "Toros", completely out of place. Then facing the complexity of another lifestyle, and tries to impress all the people in the old neighborhood.
I like it, because the flavor of an old movie, that includes a lot of famous people like Silvia Derbez, Rafael Banquells, Óscar Ortiz de Pinedo, Elda Peralta; and the feeling about the money and the opportunities in the live of all the people in a Nation like Mexico.
