Rekha's poignant tawaif act was the only highlight of this otherwise forgettable movie. Jeetendra character professing undying love for the Reena Roy's character had no depth or convictions since there was no build up or back story to it. Rekha was offered to choose between the two roles and the role she chose, though shorter in length, was the meatier one when it came to histrionics. Of course by then Rekha was also the queen of such tawaif roles - Karmayogi, Suhaag, Kasme Vaade, Muqaddar Ka Sikander, Maati Maange Khoon, Daasi etc. the list is endless.
Remake of the Telugu mega blockbuster film Premabhishekam (1981). But Jeetendra could not match the magnificent performance of legendary ANR so while original one was a blockbuster this film only proved a moderate success. Critics feel that Rajesh Khanna was better suited for the role. Also music was not of the same scale required for the film.
Anita Raj was shooting in Hyderabad for one more film along with this. She had to report for the other film shoot at 02:00pm but this film the got delayed the unit member of the other film was already on the set waiting to pick her .Anita Raj was tense as the other shoot was getting delayed following which she gave 18 retakes for a scene with Jeetendra where she had to get down from stairs.
Jeetendra was confident the film would be a super hit so he bought it for 3 territories. The film flopped and caused him further debt.
