"Beauty and the Beast" truly is a tale as old as time, and has been retold in countless ways, like the Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton TV series of the same name, the Fran Drescher comedy "The Beautician and the Beast," the teen rom-drama "Beastly," or even in an episode of "Hello Kitty's Furry Tale Theater." Recently, legendary Japanese filmmaker Mamoru Hosoda delivered "Belle," a magnificent animated sci-fi fantasy film that thrusts the tale out of the world of old and into the techno future.
The story takes place in the not-so-distant future where the internet has evolved into a legitimate virtual reality called U, where avatars are created by users' scanned biometric information. A teenager named Suzu creates an avatar named Belle who becomes a pop superstar, but everything changes when her virtual concert is interrupted by the seemingly undefeatable fighter The Dragon (or "The Beast"), who she quickly becomes infatuated with.

It has been four years since we’ve seen the animated Suicide Squad wreck havoc in the DC Animated Universe in Batman: Assault on Arkham. This time the squad is back and badder than ever. At least that’s what it looks like. A new trailer for the all-new Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay shows us some familiar faces with some brand new additions new additions to the team. Check out the trailer below.

The first trailer for Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay has arrived, and it looks promising. That used to be something you wouldn't have to say about DC Animated Features, but they've been spotty as of late in my personal opinion so all I can say here is the trailer looks pretty damn good. The lineup of heroes is better than the live-action film, Tara Strong is voicing Harley, and the violence doesn't appear to be limited as Quinn just smacked the head off that frozen guy! Let's just hope Vandal Savage is more interesting this time around than he was in Legends of Tomorrow. Christian Slater also stars in the film as Deadshot!

Lost amid the hubbub over the animated series based on the traditional DC Comics was The Zeta Project, a fun spinoff from Warner Animation’s first original creation, Batman Beyond. Thanks to Warner Archives the two season series, spanning 2001-2002, is being released on DVD.
The series is focused on Zeta (Diedrich Bader), formally known as Infiltration Unit Zeta, a synthoid, who works for the Nsa. The machine was introduced in the season two Batman Beyond episode “Zeta,” written by Robert Goodman, who developed the spinoff.
He violates his programming when he is asked to kill an innocent and goes on the run, vowing never to kill again. Of course, the Nsa wants him back and sends a team, led by the clichéd obsessive, Agent James Bennett (the well-cast Kurtwood Smith), convinced Brother’s Day, the terrorists reprogrammed the agency’s machine. I admit to being leery when Warner Animation announced their plans to follow the amazing Batman the Animated Adventures with a next generation hero called Batman Beyond. After all, it was a clear departure from the source material and there was no knowing how this would work.
As it turns out, there was little to fear. The series, which ran from January 1999 through December 2001, honored the past and showed us a future Gotham City that still needed a Dark Knight. Rather than just add wrinkles and gray hair to all the familiar figures, things have changed. Dick Grayson seems to be gone, Alfred and Jim Gordon are dead with Barbara Gordon now the police commissioner. And sitting in the gloom of Wayne Mansion is a still-angry, infirm Bruce Wayne.
He knows there’s work to be done and in time, targets teenager Terry McGuinness as his successor. The youth has...

Like many things in life (and perhaps even more in entertainment), Tiny Toon Adventures can only be fully understood when considered with what came before and after it. For example, how much more irritating were the Ewoks when you realized that they were paving the way for Jar Jar Binks? Can you watch Jack Nicholson’s original interpretation of the Joker without thinking of Heath Ledger’s more recent portrayal? All the same, Tiny Toons can really only be seen in retrospect as the link between the Muppet Babies of the late 1980s and the subsequent, far more engaging Animaniacs, which premiered in 1993. It should be evaluated on its own terms, but it can’t really be thought of or remembered any other way.

12.00 Normal 0 false false false En-us X-none X-none MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 When I was the Saturday morning cartoon watching age the big attractions were the animated series of Spider-man, X-men and Batman. These were all classics. Of these three I still hold Batman: The Animated Series above for having writing that elevated it from mere children's programming to good, smart entertainment. I still watch the show on DVD to this day. By the time Batman Beyond rolled around I was long gone from the Saturday morning phase and probably saw one or two episodes at most. It was good, but nothing I was willing to plant myself down for on a regular basis.
A few years later I tuned back in to see what kids were watching on Saturday mornings and I came across The Zeta Project. At the time I was turned off by the sappy writing and "fluffy" animation style. The...
