Magnolia Pictures has acquired the worldwide rights to “Swan Song,” a comedy starring Udo Kier that is making its world premiere Thursday at the SXSW Film Festival.
“Swan Song” is the fifth film from writer-director Todd Stephens, who previously wrote “Edge of Seventeen” and directed “Gypsy 83” and “Another Gay Movie.” Magnolia is planning a release for later this year.
Jennifer Coolidge, Linda Evans and Michael Urie also star in the film.
In “Swan Song,” Kier plays Mister Pat Pitsenbarger, a retired, aging hairdresser and local bar performer who has given up on life from the confines of his small-town nursing home in Sandusky, Ohio. But when Pat gets word that a former client’s dying wish was for him to style her final hairdo, he sets out on an epic journey across Sandusky to confront the ghosts of his past — and collect the beauty supplies necessary for the job.

Behold: The Poster for Burlesque. I think the marketing department deserves kudos for managing to pay homage to both of their leading ladies simultaneously in a way that's flattering to both. Although the hot pink "they airbrushed my face" quality won't be a sale for everyone.

MTV Whoa! Darren Aronofsky originally conceived of Black Swan and The Wrestler as a single film. Now I'm even more intrigued.
Hollywood Crush Bradley Cooper and Ryan Reynolds as action co-stars? Media to swoon.

Stale Popcorn Gypsy 83. I never hear anyone talking about this movie so I had to link up. Way too underseen for something so heartfelt.

Rue Named New Diet Diva
Curvy actress Sara Rue has been named diet firm Jenny Craig's new celebrity spokeswoman - and she's already enjoying big success just five days after she started using the weight-loss plan.
The U.S. TV star, who won acclaim for her role as a Stevie Nicks superfan in cult 2001 film Gypsy 83, will take over from Valerie Bertinelli as Jenny Craig's leading diet role model.
Rue, who was officially named the new spokeswoman on Wednesday, began her latest diet at the weekend - and she's already seeing results.
She explains, "I started on Saturday because I didn't have any distractions. I didn't have to be anywhere. I could just focus on planning my meals and getting a good start on the weekend.
"I do not feel deprived at all. There is so much food. I was eating all the food and I was sure I was gaining weight."
She claims she has already lost seven pounds (3.1 kilograms) in five days.
