The main characters are seven dinosaurs who, as a group with the code name T-Rex, fight crime. The live in Dino City, which if you ignore the fact that all people are replaced by dinosaurs, is similar with any American city portrayed in a gangster themed movie.Filled with classic cars and many jazz clubs. All the members of the T-rex squad have dual identities; crime busters when the duty calls, and jazz performers the rest of the time. They aren't vigilantes, the police and the federals call for the help whenever they're needed to save the city. They switch between their crime-fighting and performing personas by touching a magic crystal. Most of the story lines evolve about confortations between T-Rex and The Evil Corporation. The Evil Corporation are (dinosaur of course!) gangsters, and as you may already have guessed, moves in evil and criminal ways. Another important element of "the adventures of T-Rex" is also the hi-tech weaponry of all characters, good and evil. There seem to be ice-ray guns, and armors that can repel fire. However, the show isn't only about violent clashes between law upholders and thugs;there are several witty remarks throughout each episode and some classic cartoon gags, like hearts popping out of one's chest and characters that walk around flat after being thrown at a wall.
I was surprised to find out that it was first aired in 1995 though, since it's animation seems like it's out of the 80's.THe movement of the characters is a bit unnatural, and the voices are "too" cartoonish.Nevertheless, the other aspects of the animation are actually pretty good, with nice colours and a normal tempo unlike other shows of its time. All in all,"The adventures of T-Rex" is,if anything else interesting. The plot is original, and the mixture of dinosaurs acting like humans,sci-fi gizmos and the '30's theme is surprisingly fresh.
It'd surely be better if more advanced animation techniques were used though.
