- Kaj is an alcoholic living on the money the Danish state is providing him. Him and his friends spend their time drinking beer at a public bench. One day Kaj's life turns upside down when a young lady and her child moves in next to him.
- A group of alcoholics hang out at a couple of public benches when they're not forced to work mowing lawns etc. to remain eligible for public welfare benefits. Kaj is one of them. Many years ago in another life, he was Simon Spies's cook and had a family. Now a days his main occupation is drinking beer on the public bench with "friends" or alone at home. Then one day, a young mother, Liv, rents a room with a crazy guy in the neighborhood to get away from her wife beating psycho husband. At first Kaj avoids them but then Kaj's friend, Stig, signs them up to help her move her furniture for money and later to babysit her 6 y.o. kid, Jonas, while she's at work. Reluctantly playing with Jonas, Kaj decides to clean up his act... and his apartment filled with empty bottles.
