1. FleeThe official release poster for Jonas Poher Rasmussen’s animated refugee memoir Flee—the one you might have seen more often than this—isn’t half bad: the film’s subject, Amin, is revealed in the elongated ascenders of the title, as if behind bars, while a happy memory of him as a child slips freely into the poster’s negative space. And, to be honest, the design I have chosen as my favorite movie poster of the year (this is the original Swedish version but a US version of this design has been seen in the wild) doesn’t express Flee half as well as that other one does. Its it-takes-a-village cast of characters promises something different from the film itself, which is a lean and harrowing and often solitary odyssey from Afghanistan to Denmark, and from childhood to manhood. That said, I can’t stop loving this poster...

When the pandemic arrived just a few months after Dave Benton released his last album as Trace Mountains, the singer-songwriter decided to turn the terrible timing into a creative opportunity.
“It was certainly disappointing to not be able to tour in support of Lost in the Country,” Benton tells Rolling Stone. “But at the same time I love just jumping immediately back into the process of making a record…I feel like I hit a groove with it so much [more easily] because I had no downtime or break from writing songs.

New Order have paired their recent single “Be a Rebel” with a new video that reunites the group with Spanish filmmakers Nysu.
“We’d previously worked with Nysu from Madrid when they created a memorable video for us to go with ‘Restless,’ and their imagination and creativity with film really struck a chord with the band,” New Order said in a statement. “For ‘Be a Rebel,’ it has been great to team up with Nysu again, and their inspirational treatment and unique aesthetic compliments the track with a very original vision.

New Order have dropped “Be a Rebel,” their first new song since they released 2015’s Music Complete.
On the buoyant synth-pop track, Bernard Sumner sings of optimism and embracing self-love, despite challenging times. “Take a look at yourself/You may not be the same as everyone else/You’re just different, that’s Ok/We all follow our own way,” he sings on the chorus. “And if you find that they won’t listen/Then they’ve got nothing to say/So don’t get mad and don’t feel sad/Be a rebel.

We start the Top 7. You finish the Top 10.
With Country Strong, Gwyneth Paltrow’s first true singing test, expanding to theaters nationwide this Friday, we at The Scorecard Review thought it appropriate to have this week’s Top 7 center around those brave and talented thespians whom have actually sung, have actually used their own voices, in a major motion picture. In a time ruled by technology, where professional singers could have easily been hired, rendering these thespians Ashlee Simpsonian, those on this list instead opted to “do it for real,” and in the end, successfully proved to the world that they were genuinely talented singers themselves.
For this Top 7, I’m only picking my one favorite from a film, no double dipping. So John C. Reilly, Richard Gere and Catherine Zeta-Jones — you’re out!
I’ve also limited this list to 21st century performances, and only to actors-turned-singers, not singers-turned actors.

Come on, showbiz, step it up: The best trailer of the week was for a book. A friggin' book! Now, that book just so happens to be Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, which was immediately picked up by Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov so it will become a movie, but we're two months from summer; we should have better trailers coming our way now.
In addition to the book, we get a look at Disney's next animated fairy tale and a longer version of The Runaways trailer and Prince of Persia, as well.
Whole bunch of effects dancing around in the new Prince of Persia trailer
The Runaways looks better and better
You know what's awesome? Honest Abe killing vampires with an axe
Early teaser for Tangled, Disney's renamed Rapunzel movie
Julianne Moore and Jonathan Rhys Meyers in the psychological thrilla Shelter...
