Another poor effort from ITV to get a new sitcom up and running, 'Up Rising' started with a promising idea - Ronald Kegworthy (Anton Rodgers) retires to a pretty village somewhere in rural England. But, boy, did this programme have its problems from the start!
With cardboard characters not seen since the 1970s, and silly situations concerning pubs, cows (I think), misunderstandings, and tantric sex, as well as lots of other daft stuff not worth typing here, this turkey had only one direction to go - certainly not 'up'.
Despite the presence of a cast which included Nicola Pagett, Kevin McNally, Richard Coyle, Dominic Mafham, Camilla Power, and Trevor Cooper, this sitcom just tried too hard to be funny. There was no second series commissioned. Can't think why ...
