one of the unheralded movies of mahendran. a very touching and realistic movies. It deals with infidelity albeit from the male perspective.
what happens is due to a freak accident the husband becomes sort of non-functional in bed. the wife then falls for the local teacher. things take a turn for the worse when she becomes pregnant. what happens then is told beautifully.
Illayaraja's score would keep you haunting all through the night.
cast wise it contains all new comers which was then mahendran's usual way of film-making. but the performances were top notch. people may not agree with the ending, it was unconventional but very true to the spirit of the movie.
if you are interested in the kinds of movies like pattina pravesam, uthiri pokkal then this is the movie for you. I saw it in a late night slot on the tele. it was well worth it.

The only Tamil film that Malayalam superstar Jayan starred in, this film has Mahendran written all over it, but somehow disappoints due to some stereotyped plot development and uneven pacing. The characters are, as usual, well fleshed out and the music (Ilayaraja) is excellent. One is left with the feeling that it could have been a much better experience.
