Due to complications involving character usages, it was originally thought that Fievel's American Tails wasn't going to be released on DVD. In 2020, NBCUniversal regain rights to the series and decided to have it release on the Peacock streaming service.
This is the only An American Tail cartoon not to include Tony Toponi, not even by cameo. This is due to his voice actress, Pat Musick, is put in responsibility of her 3-year-old daughter Mae Whitman (4 when it was completed and aired), as she rarely did any work during that period, with the exception of doing couple characters for the Batman animated series.
Dan Castellaneta and Cathy Cavadini previously co-starred in Back to the Future: The Animated Series.
