Some of the scenes in front of the school were filmed at the actual school in Arnsdorf, where Franz Xaver Gruber has taught.
Felix Gruber, who is playing the Organist and teacher Gruber, is actually the Grandson of the real Franz Xaver Gruber, who composed the Melody for "Stille Nacht"/"Silent Night".
The director of Music of the Salzburg Cathedral was played by the actual director of Music and priest Joseph Messner, who was working in this position since 1926 until his death in 1969.
