How is this possible? The Neverhood was a great game. Puzzles, action, mystery, "Klay", and funny characters. Everything anyone could ever want in a game.
Now the sequel has led The Neverhood in a very strange turn. Skullmonkeys is a platform/action game designed for PlayStation. Klaymen can now run, jump, shoot, clone, use magic, and butt-bounce. He is a lot more versatile.
If we just ignore the fact that The Neverhood series was completely turned around, Skullmonkeys is a decent game. It's got action, some very easy to solve puzzles (like all platforms), Klay-gore, and more funny characters. With the loss of Willie Trombone, though, since the game's setting is the strange world of Idznak, something just feels completely missing. He was a great character, still is, and now he's gone.
At this time, I have not fully beaten the game. One must collect all the "Swirly Q's" in each world to see the real ending. I'm working on it now, and it isn't too hard.
So if you're looking for lots of entertainment and a challenge, don't come to Skullmonkeys. If you're looking for the sequel to The Neverhood and a nice little platform game, however, search out Skullmonkeys.

This is one of those games that makes me extremely sad. Not because it was bad, but because it was just so good, yet not a whole lot of people have heard of it and those lot of people just don't care. It makes me sad.
It's been a long time since I've played this game (due to lack of actually HAVING it), but from what I could remember, it was just a blast to play. Jumping on monkeys and collecting items just never got old.
The music is one of those rare moments in gaming where you think that everyone, gamer or non gamer, should have it. Quirky and up-beat, it was very memorable and, once I get some money, I am, without a doubt, going to get the soundtrack.
The Neverhood has disbanded, but this game will live on in the hearts of gamers who played it.

This game was no where near as good and The NeverhoOd but it was a highly good game. But if your into games like The NeverhoOd, this game isn't for you. Its a platform action-packed power ups game rather than puzzle game.
