The teleplay was based on the novels 'A Moreninha' (1844) and 'Memórias da Rua do Ouvidor' (1878) by Brazilian writer Joaquim Manoel de Macedo (1820-1882).
This was Rede Globo's second soap opera production in color for the 6 p.m. weekdays time slot.
Paquetá, an island with approximately 4,500 permanent residents, is located in the northeast inner area of Guanabara Bay, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, and is only accessible by ferryboats.
