Leading Indian producer Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures has signed a multi-film production deal with Armaan Zorace’s U.S. genre label Dark Hell and prolific Hollywood producer Steven Schneider.
Under the terms of the deal, a slate of high-concept films in the thriller-horror genre will be produced in Hindi and other Indian languages jointly by the three entities. Details of the projects under this association have not yet been revealed, but they are expected to “cater to the audiences of the South-East Asian markets in India and overseas,” the signatories said in a statement.
Schneider’s credits include “Paranormal Activity,” “Blair Witch,” and M. Night Shyamalan’s “Split.” Zorace is an American filmmaker whose credits include the acclaimed short film, “God Is Dead.”
Films produced by Balaji include “Dream Girl,” “The Dirty Picture,” “Lipstick Under My Burkha,” “Once Upon a Time in Mumbai,” “Udta Punjab” and “Pagglait.”

Team Good and Team Cuddly both took hits during Wednesday night’s episode of “The Masked Singer” as the contestants faced another double elimination to see who would be joining Firefly in the finals.
Ringmaster came out on top, meaning that Armadillo and Miss Teddy were sent home. Although they were ultimately cut, both impressed the judges with their performances — especially Miss Teddy who sang her heart out to “Mercy” by Duffy.

The Sundance Institute has selected the 11 screenwriters that will participate in the ninth annual Screenwriters Intensive which will take place digitally on March 4-5. The writers selected are Radhika Apte, William Kwok, Tulica Singh, Timothy Ware, Daniel Klein, Jo Hatcher, Chy Chi, Xavier Coleman, Joyce Sherri, Brian Robau and Jessica Mendez Siqueiros.
The Intensive is a two-day workshop for emerging independent writers and writer/directors developing their first fiction features. Exclusive: The life of the world’s oldest marathon runner, Fauja Singh, will be the subject of a biopic from a trio of established Indian creatives.
Omung Kumar B is directing the project, titled Fauja, and will produce alongside Kunal Shivdasani of Aleya Motion Magic, whose credits include the 2008 thriller Hijack, and Raaj Shaandilya, who previously wrote Bhoomi for Kumar B and also wrote and directed the 2019 Hindi comedy Dream Girl.
Fauja will chronicle how 108-year-old Fauja Singh, better known as the ‘Sikh Superman’, stunned the world by shattering a number of records in multiple age brackets as a marathon runner. Singh has completed the London marathon six times after making his debut there in 2000 at the age of 89, and has since finished marathons in Toronto, New York and more cities.
The screenplay is being adapted from the book Turbaned Tornado written by Khushwant Singh and published by Rupa Publications.
