Mick Mars’ exit from Mötley Crüe and retirement from touring was unceremonious and contentious, resulting in legal drama and a highly publicized back-and-forth spat between the guitarist and his former bandmates.
But it would all be water under the bridge — for Mars at least — if the Crüe still wanted to write songs with their longtime axeman.
In a new interview, Mars was surprisingly forthcoming about the hypothetical opportunity to work with his old band in a creative capacity again.
“Well, it took me 40 years ’cause Mötley was priority… and now that I’m retired, I’m just me,” Mars told Audacy Check In when asked why it took him four decades to make his first solo album. “I mean, if Mötley wanted me to write songs with them again, of course I would… But right now, I’m just me, so I’m writing, and it’s not Mötley, and...

US sales agent WME Independent has picked up international sales to upcoming Thai family drama How To Make Millions Before Grandma Dies from Bad Genius producer Gdh 559.
It marks the first collaboration between the two firms and is also the first time major Thai studio Gdh 559 has not handled international sales on one of its own titles.
WME Independent will represent the film internationally, excluding Thailand, which will be handled by Gdh, and will introduce the title to buyers in Berlin during the EFM next week.
The Thai-language feature centres on a young man who quits his job to look after his dying grandmother.

No one could have predicted what it was like sitting in the middle of the Jonas Brothers’ second sold out night at Yankee Stadium. The trio of Nick, Joe and Kevin rose to stardom in the Aughts as Disney’s handsome, Christian answer to Hanson, but not even Disney could prepare for the grip the brothers had on teen culture between 2007 and 2010. They were all excellent songwriters who needed little aid in the studio, plus tabloid-baiting romantic menaces amongst their fellow teen superstar peers, Disney and otherwise.

The Jonas Brothers played their first of two shows at Yankee Stadium in New York on Saturday to kick off “The Tour,” their 90-plus date international live trek.
Similar to their early 2023 Broadway residency, the Yankee Stadium show consisted of a career-spanning, 60-song set that featured separate acts dedicated to each of the trio’s five albums: 2007’s self-titled Hollywood Records debut, 2008’s A Little Bit Longer, 2009’s Lines, Vines and Trying Times, 2019’s Happiness Begins, and portions of their latest effort, May’s The Album, performed in spurts throughout. A mini-set of songs from their solo projects was also included, treating fans to full-band renditions of Nick Jonas’s 2014 hit “Jealous” and 2015’s “Cake by the Ocean” by Joe Jonas’s band Dnce.
To mark the ceremonious opening night, the concert boasted special guests Kirk Franklin, producer Jon Bellion, and a gospel choir for a run-through of The Album single “Walls.

This Quantum Leap review contains spoilers.
Quantum Leap Episode 17
Dr. Ben Song (Raymond Lee) lands this week on an international luxury airliner and in the body of a rookie stewardess neatly coiffed and tucked under a pill-box hat. Ben’s service-with-a-smile includes offering potent drinks, slicing rare beef and figuring out how to save all the passengers from the crash that takes all their lives in the past. The cause of the plane crash was unknown, so it’s up to Ben to figure out why the plane went down and how to prevent that from happening (again).
This episode jives with some of the best that Quantum Leap offered this season with its twists and turns, whodunits and MacGyver strategies, such as “O Ye of Little Faith,” “Fellow Travelers,” “Leap, Die, Repeat” and “S.O.S.” In fact, Ben is nothing if not an unconventional problem solver, and we see that...

Sza's songwriting skills have been the topic of conversation on social media recently, but make no mistake, the singer's pen is as sharp as they come - even her producer says so. In a recent interview with Popsugar, Sza collaborator Cody Fayne, aka ThankGod4Cody, opens up about working on the R&b star's first two groundbreaking albums, "Ctrl" and "Sos," and offered an inside scoop on her creative process - specifically how she wrote one of her biggest hits to date in just a matter of minutes.
"'I Hate U' was done in 15 minutes," Fayne shares. "I made the beat right there in front of her. She was just laying on the couch. It took me 10 minutes to finish [it] and she was like, 'Stop. Ok, I got the song.' And then I left out the room and came back in 15, 20 minutes. The whole song was done. I was like,...

This article contains spoilers for Quantum Leap episode 14.
When Quantum Leap cast Brandon Routh to play Caitlin Bassett’s father, Xo Alexander Augustine, in episode 14 “S.O.S.,” the show selected a dead ringer for Captain Addison Augustine’s dad. Routh looks like an Augustine as well as a distant relative of the late Christopher Reeve, which is fitting as he is the only actor to play two DC superheroes (Superman and The Atom) and to have attended high school with Aquaman (Jason Mamoa).
In “S.O.S.,” the battleship housed at the USS Iowa Museum on the L.A. waterfront serves as the set for an active naval vessel engaged in war games on the East China Sea in the year 1989. Quantum Leap’s military episode doesn’t just look the part, it gets it right.

Sza‘s “Sos” has been dominant on the Billboard 200 albums chart, but for the tracking week that ended March 2, that collection was knocked down to number-two for only the second time since its release last fall. Karol G‘s “Mañana Será Bonito” debuted at number-one instead, making history in the process. Read more about this week’s chart here at Billboard.com.
“Bonito” launched with 94,000 equivalent album units based on its combined album sales, individual track sales, and online streams, with most of its total coming from its streaming performance. It’s a historic debut because it’s just the third all-Spanish-language album to reach number-one, following Bad Bunny’s “El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo” and “Un Verano Sin Ti.” That makes this the first all-Spanish album by a woman to achieve the feat. And this was the best streaming week ever for a Latin album by a woman.

ThankGod4Cody didn't anticipate how Sza's era-defining "Ctrl" album would completely change his life in 2017 - but he also didn't foresee waiting five years to get the call to work on her next album, "Sos." The 31-year-old Grammy-nominated producer, born Cody Jordan Fayne, caught a major break with his contributions to "Ctrl" - "Love Galore," Broken Clocks," "The Weekend," and "Wavy (Interlude)" - some of which are the biggest records on Sza's debut album. But it took years for him to find himself back in the studio with the R&b sensation to cook up her next musical masterpiece.
"Never in my life did I expect for the next one to be that long," Fayne tells Popsugar of the years-long wait for "Sos." "I didn't prep for that in the post time of 'Ctrl.' I wasn't pressed to work with people. I'm thinking, yo,...

R&b star Sza spent her 10th week at number-one on the Billboard 200 albums chart for the tracking week that ended on February 23. Her album “Sos” continues its historic run on the chart, this time holding off the debut of Pink‘s new album “Trustfall.” Read more about this week’s chart here at Billboard.com.

“Sos” achieved 87,000 equivalent album units based on its combined record sales, individual track sales, and online streams. That’s down just seven-percent week to week. It’s now one of just eight albums since 2010 to spend 10 weeks or more on top. And it’s the first R&b album since the “Bodyguard” soundtrack (1992-1993) to do so. That number was enough to keep “Trustfall” down at number-two. That new album launched with 74,500 album units, most of which came from traditional album sales. It’s Pink’s ninth album...

The 2023 Grammys just took place on February 5, but the eligibility period for 2024 is already almost half over, so we launched our predictions for Album of the Year. There’s still a long way to go, but at this early stage things are looking good for Taylor Swift, whose “Midnights” is the early front-runner for the award, according to the combined predictions of hundreds of users who have placed their bets here in our predictions center so far. If it does win, it would set yet another record for the singer-songwriter.
“Midnights” has been a massive commercial success for Swift. It debuted with 1.5 million equivalent album units based on the combination of its traditional sales, individual track sales, and online streams. It made Swift the first artist ever to occupy all of the top 10 slots on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. And it will be promoted by an “Eras Tour” that...

Two all new celebrities in disguise took on returning champ Medusa for “Abba Night” on Wednesday’s “The Masked Singer.” After a rowdy rendition of “Sos,” Rock Lobster received the least amount of votes and was forced to reveal himself as comedian and “America’s Got Talent” judge Howie Mandel. Perhaps more shocking than Rock Lobster’s true identity was panelist Ken Jeong‘s ability to guess it. His fellow detectives Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy and Nicole Scherzinger couldn’t figure it out.

“I never get anything right! I got one!” a dumbfounded Ken Jeong exclaimed at the end of Wednesday’s second episode of “The Masked Singer” Season 9. Magic struck when the notoriously bad guesser correctly named Howie Mandel as the secret celebrity hiding inside the Rock Lobster costume. Ken was the only panelist who got it right; Jennifer McCarthy Wahlberg and Nicole Scherzinger both went with Martin Short, while Robin Thicke picked Steve-o.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for week two of “The Masked Singer”
The name of the game was Abba on “The Masked Singer” this week, and unfortunately, only one could advance at the end of the night. That one was not Rock Lobster, and he admitted to TheWrap that he’s genuinely torn up about it.
Rock Lobster was the first to exit on Wednesday, and he was unmasked to reveal none other than comedian and television host — and now TikTok dancer — Howie Mandel. He performed “S.O.S.” for Abba night this week – and for the record, no, he didn’t watch Pierce Brosnan’s performance of the same song in “Mamma Mia!” to prepare. He wanted to make the song entirely his own.
“I wanted to make it me,” he told TheWrap. “I said to somebody, ‘I don’t follow a path, I blaze a trail.’ I did things to prepare the night before.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched the Season 9 season premiere of “The Masked Singer,” which aired Feb. 22 on Fox.
The Winner Takes It All: “The Masked Singer” paid tribute to Swedish super group Abba on Wednesday — and unmasked two 1980s icons in the process. Pop ingenue Debbie Gibson, who first hit it big in 1987 as a 17-year-old sensation who wrote and sang her own songs, was unmasked as the Night Owl, while comedian and “America’s Got Talent” judge Howie Mandel — who rose to recognition on the 1980s medical drama “St. Elsewhere” — was revealed to be the Rock Lobster.
Gibson was a last-minute addition to the episode after the celebrity who was originally set to appear had to exit after testing positive for Covid. With less than 24 hours to taping, Gibson agreed to step in.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Wednesday night’s episode of “The Masked Singer”
They could dance, they could jive – but sadly, they could not make it past Abba night on “The Masked Singer.” Here’s who went home in Week 2 of the reality competition series on Wednesday night.
Sadly, Rock Lobster was the first to be unmasked Wednesday after singing his heart out to “S.O.S.” As far as clues go, the audience was told that the singer behind the mask was someone who dances “for 15 seconds every day for 10 million people,” a man who “was a weird neurotic mess as a kid” and got expelled from three schools and someone who was “compulsive.” Among the visual clues was Diet coke, a Joker card, and for the celebrity clue, “RuPaul’s Drag Race” all star Shangela brought out a gavel.
With all of those factors, one popular guess from the judges was “Jackass” star Steve-o.

Sza launched her 2023 North American “Sos Tour” (grab tickets for upcoming shows here) at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio on Tuesday, February 21st.
Among the 30-plus songs our December Cover star debuted more than a dozen tracks from her chart-topping new album and tour namesake, Sos, like “F2F,” “Forgiveless,” and her current single, “Kill Bill.” She opened the set with the pre-order exclusive “PSA” while recreating the album’s Princess Diana-inspired artwork, and later boarded a lifeboat and floated above the audience to perform “Supermodel” from 2017’s Ctrl, “Nobody Gets Me,” and more.
She also packed in a cover of Erykah Badu’s “Bag Lady” and shared a clip from the scorching new music video for “Low,” which revealed the singer operating a flamethrower and closed with a “coming soon” tag. Watch fan-captured footage from Sza’s “Sos Tour” opener and see the full setlist below.

What more can be said about Sza‘s dominance of the Billboard 200 albums chart? Her “Sos” holds on to the top spot for the ninth nonconsecutive week for the tracking week that ended on February 16. That means it has spend nine of its first 10 weeks of release on the chart at number-one. Read more about this week’s chart here at Billboard.com.
“Sos” dipped seven-percent to 93,000 equivalent album units based on the combination of its traditional sales, individual track sales, and online streams. But that was still enough for it to become the first R&b album by a woman to spend nine weeks or more at number-one since Mariah Carey‘s self-title debut album spent 11 straight weeks in the lead position more than 30 years ago.

You can’t keep Sza down for long. After dropping to number-two last week on the Billboard 200 albums chart, her “Sos” has reclaimed the top spot for an eighth nonconsecutive week for the tracking week that ended February 9. Read more about this week’s chart here at Billboard.com.
The K-pop band Tomorrow X Together occupied the top spot last week with their album “The Name Chapter: Temptation,” but they couldn’t hold on to it. Instead, Sza reclaimed the throne with 100,000 equivalent album units based on her combined record sales, individual track sales, and online streams. That’s actually up slightly from last week. Thanks to blockbuster streaming numbers, “Sos” has achieved six-figure units for nine weeks now. And the last R&b album by a woman to spend eight weeks on top was Mariah Carey‘s “Music Box” way back in 1993 and 1994.

R&b legend Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds is happy his Super Bowl performance is over — sort of.
“I feel relieved — now I can breathe,” he told The Hollywood Reporter outside his suite following his moment on the field Sunday. “Before it was moments of nervousness and then I’d be chill and then I’d get a little nervous again. Right before they introduced me [I was like], ‘Oh shit, there it is.’ I just have to be chill and just try to concentrate on the song.”
“You know the words, but it’s a different kind of song. It’s not something that you sing every day and you’re on the spot,” he added of singing “America the Beautiful” at the State Farm Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

Sza is the woman on top.
On Friday, Billboard named the “Nobody Gets Me” singer their 2013 Woman of the Year.

Last year, she also took home the Grammy for best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her song “Kiss Me More” with Doja Cat.

Finally, single career-focused women get a rom-com to themselves, sans judgment. In the era of Taylor Swift’s “Midnights,” Sza’s “Sos,” and Emily Henry’s novel “Book Lovers,” it’s clear that 2023 is the year of women not apologizing for their relationship statuses, nor being neatly regulated to peppy Band-Aids like Galentine’s Day to soften the blow of the annual lovefest coupledom that is Valentine’s Day. But it’s not St. Valentine’s fault: It’s ours for ignoring self-love as the crux of V-Day.
Thankfully, Alison Brie and Dave Franco have continued the unapologetic, workaholic single woman trend with “Somebody I Used to Know.” Don’t let the trailer nor first act fool you: This is a distinctly empowered subversion on “My Best Friend’s Wedding” and fellow rom-coms that came before it.
“Somebody I Used to Know” begins at what usually is the third act of a standard rom-com.

After seven weeks of uninterrupted chart dominance, Sza was knocked down a peg on the Billboard 200 albums chart for the tracking week that ended February 2. Her “Sos” fell to number-two while the number-one position was taken over by K-pop band Tomorrow X Together, whose five-song collection “The Name Chapter: Temptation” becomes their first ever chart-topper. Read more about this week’s chart at Billboard.com.
“Temptation” reached the top spot with 161,500 equivalent album units, which are calculated by combining traditional album sales, individual track sales, and online streaming performance. Traditional sales were the lion’s share of units for the collection, and most of those came from CD sales. This is the third time the group has been in the top 10. They reached number-four with “Minisode 2: Thursday’s Child” in 2022, and “The Chaos Chapter: Freeze” hit number-five in 2021. So they’d been steadily inching their way up the chart with each successive release.

Adele continues to inspire the internet's best memes. From meeting her celebrity crush Dwayne Johnson to winning the award for best pop solo performance, the singer had quite the night at the 2023 Grammys, resulting in a series of glorious reaction shots. But viewers may have missed one of her funniest: in a now-viral clip on Twitter, Adele has a priceless reaction to learning Sza was almost a marine biologist.
While introducing Sza as a presenter, host Trevor Noah spoke to the success of her new album "Sos," saying, "Just think, this is a woman who almost became a marine biologist. And if she had, there would be no theme song for killing your ex." Upon hearing the comment about Sza's unlikely profession, Adele is seen squinting in confusion and shaking her head, before saying, "Oh, wow!" while chatting with her boyfriend, Rich Paul.

Since December 2022, Taylor Swift's "Midnights" album and Sza's "Sos" album have been battling for the top spot on the Billboard 200, with "Sos" coming in at No. 1 for seven consecutive weeks. As a result of the chart battle, rumors have been circulating that the two singers have been feuding behind the scenes. Hoping to put the rumors to rest, Swift and Sza are making it clear they have nothing but love to go around for one another.
"I don't have beef w Anyone especially not Taylor lmao I genuinely loved her album and the writing!"
On Jan. 17, the "Anti-Hero" singer thanked fans on Instagram for turning the song into her longest-leading No. 1 hit with a total of eight weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 list. "What on earth, I love you guys," Swift captioned the news on her Instagram Stories. Previously, Swift's longest-running No. 1 hit was "Blank Space," which topped the charts for seven weeks.

Sza‘s “Sos” has been number-one on the Billboard 200 albums chart for all of 2023 so far, and the tracking week ending January 26 was no exception. She logged her seventh straight week on top, further cementing her position in the record books. Read more about this week’s chart here at Billboard.com.
“Sos” achieved 111,000 equivalent album units based on its combined album sales, individual track sales, and online streams. That was a drop of just seven-percent from week to week. It makes her the first R&b artist to spend their first seven weeks at number-one since Whitney Houston‘s “Whitney’ back in 1987. She’s also one of just three women in the last 20 years to spend seven weeks or more on top, along with Taylor Swift and Adele.

Britney Spears is back in the dance studio performing for her followers on Instagram.
This time with an assortment of crop tops she interchanges throughout the video. And with some musical numbers we have heard before.
What is clear is that Britney Spears must have an entire closet of crop tops. Between past Instagram dance workouts and this video, she has advertised at least over a half dozen of them.
In the Instagram video, she is seen dancing in white/gray colored workout shorts, and as the video changes music, so do her crop tops.
The first song is S.O.S by Indila and for that portion, she is rocking a bright red crop top. The second track is Britney’s song Get Naked, and for that popping track, she has a yellow-laced crop top that matches her hair.

Britney Spears is breaking a sweat while revealing fresh tan lines in the dance studio.
She shared a now-deleted video of her rocking some moves to her 42 million followers on Instagram.
And the singer’s freshly sunbathed look was just the beginning of her fashionable appearance.
In the video, Spears is seen whipping fast hand motions, spinning, executing hair flips, and more.
Her outfit is similar to past videos with the pop singer sporting a low-hanging crop top (only this one is yellow.) She pairs the top with tiny black workout shorts that show off her dancing physique.
Spears captions the Instagram video by saying, “I’ve never sweat so much in my life !!!”

Britney Spears is back busting moves in her frequent dance studio.
Just recently, she was in the same location “feeling herself” to the iconic sounds of Justin Bieber, wearing a similar clothing matchup as she does here.
In the video, Spears dances emotionally to Indila’s heartfelt track S.O.S.
Spears executes her typical wave-like hand motions and spins like a Britney tornado while smiling at the camera.
She is wearing a tight-fitted white crop top that snaps in the back with tiny black shorts to match. Her hair is down and savagely untamed due to her whipping it around constantly from the improvisational dancing.
The singer ended the Instagram video feeling her upper torso, cupping her hands to her face, then reaching out toward the camera while mouthing the lyrics. She then begins to tear up and...

“Spinning Gold” director Timothy Scott Bogart has set up his next projects on the heels of his musical biopic about his father, Casablanca Records founder Neil Bogart.
Bogart will produce the semi-autobiographical feature “North Star” from Oscar nominee Jim Sheridan, which tells the story of the director’s early life in Northern Ireland. U2 musicians Bono and The Edge are in discussions to compose original music for the film, Variety can reveal.
Meanwhile, Bogart will also write and direct the modern pop-music driven, 1191-set “Marian,” which charts the love story of Robin Hood and Maid Marian, with music from Grammy-winning songwriter Evan Bogart.
“North Star” will be directed by Sheridan. The story will center on his family and growing up in the tumultuous times of 1960s Ireland. Bono and lead guitarist The Edge are in talks to write and perform the original song, “North Star,” in addition to collaborating on the score.

The story of Casablanca Records has been told by many — in books, articles and by the larger-than-life characters who lived through the salad days of mid- to late-1970s rock and disco music. Its ascent as a hit factory — home to Kiss, Donna Summer, the Village People and Parliament Funkadelic — was short and swift and substantial.
Founded in 1974 by Neil Bogart, who’d had limited success as a record man at Buddha Records, a sublabel of MGM which had signed Gladys Knight and the Pips and the Ohio Express, Casablanca had the reputation of a place of excess. Sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll was the mantra of the day, and certainly so for the record company that contributed the first smash extended single to clubs and radio stations all over the world — Summer’s 17-minute “Love to Love You,” produced by Giorgio Moroder and first released in 1975.

A poignant script, attractive production design and appealing performances bring something fresh to familiar coming-of-age tropes in “On the Water.” Estonia’s submission for the international feature Oscar, the film unfolds in rural Soviet Estonia in the early 1980s, during a pivotal year in the life of the shy teen protagonist that finds him slowly unlocking his potential. The touching yet never sentimental screenplay is by Olavi Ruitlane, based on his own best-selling novel. Balancing gentle humor with the hard facts of life, veteran helmer Peeter Simm finds strong visuals and the correct tone to deliver the story.
Some 40 years ago, this sort of film would have been a staple at every international film festival, but may now seem old-fashioned. Nevertheless, the film’s sympathetic qualities and professional tech credits make it a solid bet for streaming platforms or smaller arthouse distributors.

Rihanna is an industry unto herself. We’ve been waiting for a new collection ever since, but while we wait, let’s count down the best songs of her career as a lead artist.
