Fifteen years ago, best friends Andra Liemandt and Jenny Mason never would have predicted their mid-life career change.
Back then, they worked for tech giant Dell — but nowadays, the ladies are rocking Austin and beyond with their country-tinged pop-rock band The Mrs.
“My dad still tells me, ‘You are the last of all my children I thought I’d be seeing onstage playing in a band,'” says Mason, the act’s bassist and also a former interior designer. “But now I can’t imagine doing anything else. That’s the journey it’s been.”

It’s day four of Star Trek Week! I see Graham and Ryan checking the clock and looking annoyed. Don’t worry guys, it’s almost over!
Star Trek: Voyager (Voy) came around during a period of maximum Star Trek saturation. Voyager premiered only a year after Tng ended and only two years after DS9 premiered. This is most likely the point in which “Star Trek fatigue” took root, but more on that tomorrow. Star Trek: Voyager debuted on January 16, 1995 with the episode “Caretaker” and, like its sister shows, would last seven seasons for a total of 172 episodes before closing with “Endgame” on May 23, 2001.

"Can't help but think who you would be if you just had the chance to turn 23 / It's 2 a.m., I still don't believe you're gone / And the world keeps spinning on," Kelly sings in the emotional tune, inspired by The Voice contestant who was 22 when she was shot by a fan on June 11 in Orlando while signing autographs after a concert. "You had so many songs left to sing, so many stories...

You know those incredible looking nature documentaries Best Buy, or any other generic electronics and appliance store, has playing on those huge overpriced HDTVs it's trying to sell? Chances are they're from the BBCs increasingly large selection of superbly filmed series (like Planet Earth or Life) that highlights one aspect or another of the amazing planet we live on. Planet Earth was epic in its undertaking and Life was utterly breathtaking, and now they've gone and done it again with their series Human Planet, which started on April 17th and is running just three more nights on the Discovery Channel at 7pm (until the 24th). If you miss it now, you can buy (or rent) it on DVD and Blu-ray as of the 26th (just two days later), but if you can watch it right now just by turning on the TV...
