Red Saunders' Sacrifice review

Even by 1912 this tale of redemption in the old west was boilerplate fare, re-used over and over by the early studios. This Lubin picture stars Edgar Jones as an outlaw who risks his freedom to aid young Clara Williams and her ailing mother, riding into the local town when Ma takes a turn for the worse after a cabin fire only to be recognised by a local and reported to the sheriff. There's nothing particularly memorable about this short and no action to speak of, but it's competently directed by Francis J. Grandon, who directed no less than thirty-four films in 1912 and more than one hundred over a 13 year career behind the camera.
